Favero Assioma PRO MX Review

Ημερομηνία 19/08/2024

Today, we are reviewing this power meter pedal designed specifically for mountain bikers, gravel riders, and cyclocross enthusiasts who use the SPD system. Here’s our first headline: Lightweight, high-quality, and affordable!

cabecera

Favero is one of the market leaders, especially known for the famous Assioma road power meters. Thanks to their reliability and quality, many cyclists have put their trust in this brand in a relatively short time. Assioma PRO MX is entirely designed and manufactured in Italy. Favero Electronics has amassed more than 30 years in sport equipment and has a strong presence in the power meter panorama since 2015.

This time, we will be analyzing their off-road version, the much-acclaimed Favero Assioma Pro MX:

1. Accurate Power Measurement: This pedal measures power with a very small margin of error (±1%), meaning it provides highly accurate data on your performance while cycling. Thanks to its special IAV Power System and internal gyroscope, Assioma takes into account the irregularity of your pedaling when collecting power data, thus granting the same, consistent data reading no matter the conditions.

2. Durability and Robust Design: In Assioma PRO MX, all the important parts of a power meter (strain gauges, electronic components and battery) are safely stored inside the axle. The external part, the pedal body, is, instead, completely electronicless, thus easily replaceable as you´d do with a common pedal. The construction materials are of high quality: stainless steel for the axle, aluminum for the pedal body,…

3. Easy to Use: It is easy to install and configure using an app on your phone. It also connects effortlessly to your devices via ANT+ and Bluetooth, allowing you to review your data on your watch or bike computer.

A very important and noteworthy aspect is its lightness (lighter than some similar models from the competition). It offers comparable performance in terms of pedal height and robustness, making it an excellent choice for cyclists looking for a reliable power meter for mountain or gravel riding.

The Assioma PRO MX retains the precision and reliability that made the Assioma series famous but in a format compatible with SPD. The pedal body is robust and designed to withstand the demands of off-road cycling, with a weight of 384 g per pair and a stack height of 11.2 mm, which is competitive compared to other high-performance SPD pedals. Additionally, it is equipped with two needle bearings and labyrinth seals, ensuring durability and resistance to the harshest conditions.

This model offers precise measurements with a margin of error of ±1% and can record up to 3000W of power. Its battery can last up to 60 hours. Additionally, it includes advanced data such as IAV cycling dynamics, which analyzes the power phase and torque efficiency, among other parameters, which is invaluable for cyclists looking to optimize their performance.

Conclusion

The Favero Assioma PRO MX is a great choice if you want to take your training to the next level. It is precise, durable, and easy to use, making it one of the best SPD power meter pedals on the market.
