Arai Quantic full face helmet

As with every Arai, the Quantic is formed around protection, first and foremost. Manufactured by hand, the outer shell maintains core strength but with a substantial weight reduction. The smooth, round shape is a key Arai signature and primarily designed to ‘glance-off’ and spread impact forces.Using the aerodynamic and protective abilities of Arai’s full-race helmets and all the experience and know-how earned over millions of road kilometres, the new Quantic slips through the air neatly and efficiently, wrapping its wearer in a cocoon of luxury. It offers a fresh choice for riders that want the very best performance from a helmet – in terms of protection, comfort and ease of wear, day-in-day out – with zero compromise. For easy access on and off the Quantic features a 5mm flare around the base, while the VAS MAX vision visor comes with a Pinlock insert ready to use. The premium brushed nylon interior is removable and features Facial Contour System (FCS) and neck roll wire pocket. It also features Emergency Release System (ERS).

The Quantic model has been officially approved and certified according to the ECE R22-06 standard.


Quantic Features:

General:

Outer shell: PB e-cLc (Peripherally Belted e-Complex Laminate Construction):
- The Quantic outer shell design outlines a stylish, organic shape and uses PB e-cLc for lightweight strength and, for the first time, built-in side ducts. The AR-mat has been substituted with a new material which makes it possible to reduce the weight, while maintaining strength. An extra layer of Super Fibre belting – instead of the Hyper Ridge found around the base of the Profile-V – maintains rigidity in a crucial area while offering flat sides for easy fitment of an intercom. Variable Axis System (VAS) lowers the visor mounting system and yields an average of an additional 24mm across both temple areas, to generate the ideal, smoother shape that increases the ability to glance-off energy. Like the Profile-V the Quantic’s shell flares out 5mm around the base, for easier on/off access.

- With VAS, the visor mounting position is lowered, yielding an average of an additional 24mm across both temple areas, in pursuit of the ideal smoother shape that increases the ability of glancing off energy. As a result, this has made it possible for more of the shell to be smoother along and above the test line of the Snell standard.


Ventilation:

Quantic Ventilation:
- Comprehensive and controllable ventilation is based around 13 ventilation ports: 7 intake, 6 exhaust. The 3D Arai logo feeds cooling air into two central intake points and works well at low speed, alongside dual F1-derived tear duct top intakes, twin brow vents and 2-position sliding air-scoop, filtered chin vent. Hot air is efficiently extracted via the 3-way one-piece rear exhaust/spoiler, twin flush-fit side exhausts (with foam dams to reduce noise) and neck exhaust.

Dual tear-duct top intake vents:
- Drawn initially from Arai’s F1 helmet the tear-ducts maintain the airflow of the previous design with a compact, light and unobtrusive form that complements the round and smooth shell. Opened/closed by sliding to prevent water ingress.


Front Ventilation:

3D Arai logo duct:
- Immediately noticeable, the new 3D Arai logo duct (made as thin as possible, just 3.5mm in depth) feeds two central 10mm intake ports. This is a first in an Arai, and entirely due to PB e-cLc’s strength and the shell construction. It also works very well at low speed and with an upright riding position; at just 50km/h it’s channelling an extra 40% airflow, at 120km/h 7%. It can also be opened, or closed, easily with summer or winter gloves, via a short-stroke lever placed at the top; if the rider can’t see the lever and the logo is in its normal place, the duct is open. The Arai logo duct is designed to breakaway in the event of an impact.

Air-scoop chin vent:
- Also new is the 3-position (open, midway and closed) sliding air-scoop chin vent which flows a larger intake volume of air and has a replaceable filter. The actuating mechanism is thicker and easy to use with gloves.

Brow vents:
- Fresh air can enter directly to the forehead area without the need for holes in this critical area of the shell and impact absorbing liner. For specific models the ventilation is extended to the temple area.


Rear Ventilation:

One-piece rear exhaust with spoiler function:
- The one-piece rear exhaust/spoiler, operated by a 3-way switch, is inspired by the DF-X2 of the RX-7V Racing, but redesigned for touring use – however, it was tested up to 300km/h at Suzuka. It sits a little more forward on the shell and is fed by 3 ports in the shell. As part of the Quantic’s comprehensive ventilation system it efficiently draws air but also smooths airflow over (and from the side) of the helmet, improving stability and reducing buffeting, especially while overtaking at highway speeds. The result is much less rider fatigue. Manufactured as thin and light as possible it’s designed to crush or break away upon impact, therefore having no impact on protective performance.

Neck exhaust vent:
- To enhance hot-air extraction from the interior. Increases the ventilation effect at the lower part of the helmet.

Side exhausts:
- Produce low pressure behind the rear vent for better hot air extraction. Integrated in the shell for better aerodynamics, reduce wind noise and prevent buffeting at speed. Inside, a small foam dam helps to absorb and diminish excessive noise, without reducing ventilation performance.


Aerodynamics:

Visor:

VAS Max Vision Visor with De-Mist option:
- VAS MAX Vision shield is standard to provide better visibility in all seasons and for all types of riding.

Shield latch system:
- Borrowed from our F1 helmet, completely modified 3D moving shield latch mechanism secures the shield like never before, but operates smoothly with an intuitive fluid – one finger operation – even with gloves.

Pinlock insert lens:
- Effectively prevents misting and fogging of the visor, even under extreme wet and damp conditions. May be cleaned and changed easily.


Interior:

Premium Brushed nylon Liner material:
- Using the interiors of both the Profile-V and RX-7V as benchmarks the Quantic’s interior was designed from scratch for maximum comfort, airflow (there are two holes in the forehead area) and light weight. The interior and cheek pads are easily removed for cleaning or adjustment.

Replaceable Cheek pads/Ear cups:
- Cheek pads/ear cups may be easily removed. All parts (replaceable or not) can be cleaned with lukewarm water and mild soap. Rinse well after cleaning and never dry in direct sunlight or near a heat source. Interior parts in different size thickness are available for a custom fit for every rider.

- Remove by taking the backside out first
- Place back by inserting the frontside first

Replaceable Interior:
- The complete interior may be easily removed. All parts (replaceable or not) can be cleaned with lukewarm water and mild soap. Rinse well after cleaning and never dry in direct sunlight or near a heat source. Interior parts in different size thickness are available for a custom fit for every rider.

Speaker pockets:
- Build in communication systems are popular, but the problem is often that the room for a speaker is limited or just not present, causing unpleasant pressure points. The speaker pockets, offering room for mounting speakers without effecting comfort or fit. (Speaker not included).

Facial Contour System (FCS):
- To offer an even better snug fit and enhancing the comfort to the lower jaw, the Facial Contour System (FCS) works with a foam spring support in the cheek pad that compresses and rebounds, providing the necessary support without excessive pressure.

5mm ’’Peel Away’’ Temple pad:
- Arai´s peel-away temple crown pads give the option of 5 mm more interior width if needed.


Comfort:

Emergency Release System (ERS):
- Allows easier access to an injured rider. By pulling the orange tabs integrated in the pads, the cheek pads slide out. Making helmet removal easier for trained medical personnel and rescuers. Minimising the risk of additional injury.

Breath guard:
- Works in conjunction with the dual-pivot® chin vent to better direct fresh air to the inside surface of the shield while at the same time directing hot breath down and away from the inside surface of the shield.

Chin Curtain (Fixed):
- Attached to the bottom of the helmet, the chin curtain helps to further accentuate the Egg-shape form. The curtain simultaneously blocks air intrusion from turbulent air below and increases negative pressure to enhance the exhaust function of FFS by drawing more air from the mouth area. The improved airflow reduces noise even further.

5mm wider base:
- The exclusive shell flares 5mm around the base, making it easier to get the helmet on and off (for newcomers to Arai the initial ‘snugness’ when putting the helmet on or taking it off can be challenging).

Neckroll wire pocket:
- Designed to work clearly without affecting comfort or protection to store excess cable length in the neck roll.

Intercom accommodation:
- Designed to fit and connect a communication system easily on the shell exterior – and without any compromise to the protection offered by the inner EPS liner.

Glancing Off:
- To minimize impact energy getting into the helmet, it’s crucial that a helmet can slide over a surface. Arai believes that a Strong, Round & Smooth shell helps to increase a helmets ability to protect the rider during an impact. Shells with sharp edges or vent ducts that don’t break off can reduce the helmet’s ability to slide, sending energy into the helmet, or even enhance rotational energy.

- Washable interior
The premium quality interior of any Arai helmet can be easily cleaned, in place, with mild soap and lukewarm water.

Handmade:
- It can take up to five years for our experts to earn the right to create an Arai shell. Each shell can take up to 27 steps and to build one Arai helmet will take about 18 man-hours.

All-day comfort:
- All-day comfort with the Arai interior fit and shape together with the finest liner materials and the extensive ventilation system. And thanks to the perfect balance and weight distribution of the helmet, you hardly notice you are wearing an Arai.

Penetration tested:
- All Arai helmets are penetration tested, although not required by European helmet standards. The Arai penetration test is performed with a 3kg test cone that strikes from a height of 3m on the helmet.

Double-D ring device:
- The flat and D-shaped rings fit smooth against the chin. No moving parts, no corrosion problems and just pulling the tab is enough to loosen the fastener.

Smooth shape, better protection:
- The smooth outer shell of Arai helmets is designed to glide without unnecessary resistance. You don’t want to decelerate your helmet more than necessary. That’s why all Arai vents and ducts are designed to break off during an impact.

Strong outer shell, soft inner shell:
- Arai uses a very strong outer shell to spread impact forces and a soft inner shell to absorb remaining energy. The multiple-density EPS inner shell is made using a unique technology of combining three to five densities in various areas as a single component.

Organic shape:
- The organic shape of an Arai outer shell offers a more natural appearance, seals better and conforms more to the head’s natural shape for improved comfort, fit and to help minimize wind turbulence.
