3 keys to keep in mind when choosing your triathlon and OPEN WATER glasses

cabecera

If you have a triathlon or trek in sight, and you are looking for the best glasses for this discipline, Zoggs tells you 3 points to take into account to choose the best option

Gaskets, lenses, size, tint... There are many things to think about when choosing your swimming goggles. It is an essential step to be able to get the most out of your triathlon training and races. When buying glasses you have several options regarding size, type of gasket and type of lens...and that makes the decision seem complicated.

In collaboration with Zoggs, we explain how to find the most suitable ones for you and your needs, making it easy for you to choose them:

1. Choose the right frame and gasket

After years of study and experience creating material for swimmers of all types, Zoggs is clear that each face is different and that it is essential that good glasses adapt perfectly to offer the best experience in the water. With this objective, they have created 5 types of frames and joints, each with its own characteristics.

Air Cushion The goggle´s air-filled gasket provides a "vacuumed" seal that offers a "nearly non-existent" fit while minimizing marks around the eye.

Soft seal: Our exclusive hypoallergenic Soft-Seal gasket adapts to the contours of the swimmer´s face, providing a custom fit while maintaining softness for "second-skin" comfort.

3D Flexpoint: The most advanced technology for greater frame flexibility that provides a super comfortable fit for all faces. Exclusive to the Predator Flex range.

Wiro Frame: Exclusive Bio-Tech™ frame technology. A durable frame with soft silicone gaskets that offers a super comfortable fit. Available exclusively for our Predator range.

Ultra-fit: it is the most recent and exclusively designed seal, which offers the swimmer the best fit and maximum comfort. This patented design is exclusive to our Predator and Predator Flex range.

Soft Seal+: Our exclusive Soft-Seal+ hypoallergenic liquid silicone seals for an ultra-light face that fits like a second skin with greater comfort.

Liquid Skin: Flexible, ultra-light yet durable comfort to prevent leaks. It fits like a second skin: you won´t notice you´re wearing glasses.

Hcb: The hexagonal structure of the patented HCB (Honeycomb) technology reinforces the seal against pressure while maintaining elasticity and softness for a light and secure fit.

2. Select the type of lens

Like faces, swimmers train and compete in different lighting and weather conditions, as well as eye sensitivity, which means they need one lens or another, depending on the practice they are going to do. At Zoggs, they have designed lenses for all types of swimmers - for indoor swimming and for all outdoor weather conditions.

One of the most popular lenses Zoggs offers is their Polarized Ultra lens, like the one found in many of their Predator Flex and Predator glasses. Another favorite of triathletes are the Titanium (mirror) lenses like those found in the Tiger LSR+ glasses, ideal for avoiding glare and in high light intensity conditions.

If you need a lens that adapts to different solar conditions, Zoggs also has its famous Reactor lens, which reacts to different types of light, darkening or lightening depending on the intensity of the light and which you can find in the Predator Flex model.

Clear: Ideal for low light, cloudy or indoor situations when maximum visibility is required.

Smoke Tinted: Medium protection against sun and bright light, excellent for outdoor use. A practical solution for variable conditions and daily training.

Color Tinted : They offer medium protection against the sun and bright light, making them perfect for indoor activities.

Titanium: With additional protection against sunlight reflections. Ideal for a high level of luminosity, reducing eye fatigue and sun glare. They dim vision when swimming indoors.

Polarized : Smoked polarized lens, ideal for high level light and direct sunlight as it reduces glare and glare from the sun. Perfect for outdoor swimming.

Polarized Ultra: The copper polarized lens filters blue light to reduce glare and reflections from the sun, for great brightness and direct sunlight.

Polarized Ultra Reactor : Photochromic lenses react to sunlight for a darker shade in brighter conditions and clear visibility during indoor swimming.

3. Choose the best size and fit

In the case of swimming goggles, size is important. We don´t all share the same physiognomy, and that is why Zoggs offers two different sizes in most of its glasses. Whichever model you choose, you can find two sizes: Regular, for medium and large faces, and Small, for smaller faces.

One of the most important indicators of a good fit is to tighten the glasses against your face without the strap. If you feel a temporary sucking effect, it is a very good sign that they are a good fit for you.

To help you understand how to get the perfect fit for your glasses, we have created a handy guide, which you can find below, to help you make your choice.

Step 1. Place the glasses on your eyes.

Step 2. Adjust the strap behind your head.

Step 3. Adjust the strap to make it stable and comfortable.

Step 4. Adjust the nose clip to make it more comfortable and airtight.

Once you have the perfect glasses to give your all in the water and swim with the greatest possible comfort, we leave you some extra tips to take care of your lenses and preserve them for as long as possible.

Take care of your glasses

Although it is very tempting to take off your goggles after swimming and put them straight in your backpack, it is advisable to pay more attention and care for them. Follow these simple steps to extend the life of your glasses.

Step 1. Lift the strap above your head to release pressure.

Step 2. Carefully remove the glasses from your face.

Step 3. Rinse your glasses with clean water and store them away from direct sunlight.
