Parts of an air conditioner

Before we jump into how air conditioners work, have a look at the essential parts of this machine;

Refrigerant
It is also called coolant and the lifeblood of comfort air conditioning. The job of the refrigerant is to take out the heat and release it to the outdoor surroundings.

Evaporator Coils
This is the main part of the indoor unit and is responsible for absorbing the heat from the inside of your home. It is important that to work at the optimum level, the coils should always be clean. You can also replace the air filters when needed.

Condenser Coils
This is the main part of the outdoor unit.

Compressor
This is the heart of the overall cooling system of an air conditioner. It ensures the refrigerant travels all the way through the evaporator coils to the condenser coils.

How does air conditioning work?

• The thermostat starts the high velocity air conditioning and signals the need for cooling.
• The refrigerant carries heat from inside of the house.
• Then the fans take back cooler air into the house.
• The heat of the house is released to the outdoors.
• Fans take out the hot air to the surroundings
