Good, stiff, lighter mountain boot
David Williams - 01/11/2020
So far so good for the first couple outings.. These boots are about 10 ounces lighter each than my Scarpa Wrangels.. My feet are size 44 wide and these boots in 44.5 fit pretty well without any pressure on the sides of my feet.. Yesterday we did an alpine trek into the first bit of early winter snow and icy conditions and the boots performed nicely.. I did ditch the neon laces in favour of something less colourful..

Good boot, but better another, small bugs ...
Fer - 05/12/2019
In the first set to "tame" the boots, without stepping on mountain or rugged terrain, I have already verified that by some friction or other circumstance two points of the maya of green nylon threads that cover the boot have been released (frayed) .. On the other hand, the glue of the protective rubber reinforcement of the perimeter from the boot of the toe to the heel gives the feeling that in a short time, with use, it will begin to release ... Time will tell, but the first sensations they have not been entirely satisfactory ...
Great boot but defective
RaulInes - 29/11/2019
Very comfortable boot without friction at any time. Fully waterproof for guide and snow. The pity is that after a short time of use my toe was detached and I had to return them. Good response from the manufacturer with money back. I did not buy them again because they are the second salewa that I have to change due to rapid deterioration or bad manufacturing, although I think it is a great brand I have not had luck with it.
Don't take these boots to the mountains!
Ward Strong - 30/08/2019
i have used these boots for one month now, and am very disappointed. i owned and loved the raven 1 for four years; they wore out last year so i replaced with the raven 3 this spring. the fit is the same, perfect for me, perhaps even better because the external toe cap makes the toebox roomier, which is good for me. after perhaps 7 full days of alpine hiking and class 3 / 4 scrambling, my first impression is that on dry clean rock the vibram soles were not exactly grippy-- i slipped several times where i never would have slipped with my raven 1's. if the rock has lichen, traction is even worse, and wet lichen is like walking on ice cubes-- very treacherous. walking across a boulder field in the rain is a scary experience. and the durability is poor so far. after 3 days one of the 3f wires broke right off, and after 6 days a wire on the other boot broke. the fact that performance was unchanged exposed the 3f system for what it is: a nonfunctional gimmick. meanwhile, the 'abrasion-resistant' green fabric started to show distinct ,signs of scuffing, and by day 7 (two days ago) the entire boot looks like my raven 1's looked after 2 years of use: scuffed and abraded material, and one area with a tuft of loose fibers over 1 cm long. i wish i could upload photos, it's quite impressive how thrashed these boots look after just 7 days in the mountains. finally, i find the external toe cap acts like a big hook: it is constantly catching things, tugging at rocks, hooking on branches... very annoying. these are great boots to wear to mountaineering meetings, but don't bother taking them to the mountains.
