3M SBS System Support - Hookit™ Backing Plate for Professional Polishing

Achieve flawless, swirl-free finishes with the unparalleled stability and efficiency of the 3M SBS System Support. Designed as the foundational element for professional-grade polishing and buffing, this backing plate is the key to unlocking consistent, high-quality results in your surface finishing workflow. It is an indispensable electric tool accessory for any automotive detailer, marine finisher, or industrial technician who demands precision and performance. By ensuring perfect centering and a secure hold, this support system eliminates the common frustrations of pad wobble and vibration, allowing you to focus on creating a perfect, mirror-like shine.

Engineered for use with a rotary polisher or a variable-speed grinder, the 3M SBS System Support provides the rigid, stable base necessary for effective compounding, polishing, and finishing. Its robust construction is designed to withstand the rigors of professional use, delivering exceptional durability and a long service life. The system´s primary benefit lies in its ability to dramatically improve the user experience and the final outcome. It allows for the full transfer of the tool´s power to the work surface evenly, preventing hot spots and ensuring a uniform cut and finish across the entire panel. This level of control is essential when working on delicate clear coats and high-gloss surfaces where every detail matters.

The true innovation of this support plate is its integration with the renowned 3M Hookit™ attachment system, which revolutionizes the process of changing pads.

The Hookit 5155 system is designed to facilitate hooking and unhooking (Velcro) without off-centering the beret.

This expertly designed system means you can switch between polishing and buffing pads in mere seconds, without the struggle of misalignment. The pad self-centers perfectly every time, ensuring balanced rotation and eliminating performance-robbing vibration at high speeds. This quick-change capability drastically reduces downtime, making your entire workflow more productive and efficient, whether you are performing a multi-step paint correction or finishing a large surface area. As an integral component of the 3M™ Step by Step (SBS) finishing process, this support pad ensures that each stage, from compounding to final waxing, is executed with maximum precision and effectiveness. Elevate your craft and leave behind the imperfections caused by inferior equipment.
