Last Wednesday, December 13, we had the honor of testing our most “performance” adidas product: BOSTON 12.

The 20 attendees at the Test Day were experienced runners , with ambitious sporting goals and with the curiosity to assess how the new Boston 12 could help in achieving these achievements.

Boston 12 is the most versatile shoe within the adidas “PRO” range. Although the other models are 100% intended for competition and very fast paces, Boston 12 is equally valid for series training and long runs “at pace” due to its great stability thanks to its wider upper in the metatarsal area. On the other hand, the extension of the Lighstrike Pro carbon plate to the heel helps to improve the transition in the stride from the heel to the metatarsal.

After the welcome where the participants received the Boston 12 along with a gift t-shirt and socks, we had a technical explanation of the product by the adidas technician. Next we start the training:

Optimal marathon pace test:

1. 15-20 minutes warm up
   
   
2. 5´ technique and MVC (maximum controlled speed) exercises.
   
   
3. Test: 6x (800 – 400 non stop). Doing the 800 at 10K pace and the 400 1´/km slower.
   
   
4. Take time of the 6 out of 800 and take the final average.
   
   
5. The average time in minutes and seconds converted to hours would be your goal marathon time.
   
   
6. Example: If my average time for the 6 800 was 3´00 (mm:ss), it means that my marathon goal time should be 3h:00.

After the test, we discuss the sensations with the runners:

Alfonso, who is preparing for the Barcelona Marathon, told us that Boston 12 will be 100% sure to be his option for long runs, since the protection provided by the Lighstrike PRO will allow him to add many kilometers without getting injured. Regarding the test, although it seemed very hard, he was happy because he did not expect to last all the 800´s at the pace he set.

On the other hand, Marta, who knew the product well, since she ran the Behobia – San Sebastián with Boston 12, told us that they were undoubtedly the best mixed shoes she had, because they served her perfectly for training on dirt tracks thanks to the grip. of the Continental sole to compete in half marathons, his favorite distance.
