The Saucony Endorphin Speed 5 is an extremely versatile shoe, suitable for everything from long runs to competitions, interval training, and brisk paces.

It stands out for having a good energy return and responding positively at paces between 5:20/5:30 min/km up to 3:40-3:45 min/km.

First impression

The moment you put them on, you immediately notice the feeling of lightness and comfort, and you can tell you´re wearing a hybrid shoe. Despite not belonging to the maximalist shoe group nor to the so-called supershoes (with carbon plates), it performs admirably thanks to the rigidity provided by the nylon plate incorporated into its materials and geometry.

Damping and response

One of its strengths is the energy return that makes you pick up speed without realizing it, and the cushioning, conveying confidence for the weeks with the most kilometers.

Fit, comfort and traction

The shoe fits the foot well and stands out for its spacious toe box. The upper is very lightweight and breathable, which is appreciated on summer days.

On asphalt, the traction feels good, both in dry and wet conditions.

Conclusion

The Saucony Endorphin Speed 5 is a safe bet if you want a single shoe that can handle almost everything: quality training, fast paces, and races for most runners. It maintains the Saucony Speed spirit (smoothness, speed), but with enough cushioning and comfort to be suitable for more than just racing.

If you train for ultramarathons or are simply looking for support while running, the Saucony Triumph might be more suitable, but if you´re looking for a mixed, responsive, and versatile shoe without sacrificing quality, the Saucony Endorphin Speed 5 is definitely the shoe for you.
