ICON Threshold™ Modular Helmet | Ultimate Versatility & Comfort

Experience the pinnacle of touring versatility with the ICON Threshold™ Modular Helmet. Engineered for the rider who demands both uncompromising protection and ultimate convenience, the Threshold™ seamlessly transitions between the security of a full-face helmet and the freedom of an open-face design, redefining your journey from the daily commute to the cross-country tour. This adult helmet is crafted for those who refuse to compromise on performance or comfort.

At a moment´s notice, the modular chinbar can be raised with a single, glove-friendly button, offering unparalleled convenience for quick stops, conversations, or simply enjoying the open air. The handmade composite fiberglass shell provides a formidable yet lightweight barrier, minimizing neck fatigue on long rides while maximizing strength. Its intermediate-oval headform is designed to fit the most common head shape, ensuring a comfortable and secure fit from the first mile to the last. For a personalized and steadfast fit every time, the helmet is equipped with a quick and reliable Micrometric adjustment buckle.

Clarity is paramount in any riding condition. The Threshold™ comes ready for action with a Fog-Free ThresholdShield™ pre-installed, ensuring your vision remains unobstructed on cool mornings or during humid rides. When the sun gets intense, a simple flick of a switch deploys the internal dark smoke Threshold Dropshield™, acting as a built-in sun visor to reduce glare and eye strain without needing to change your main shield.

Inside, a world of comfort awaits. The premium, removable comfort liner features moisture-wicking Hydradry™ material, actively pulling sweat away from your skin to keep you cool and dry. Ventilation is expertly managed through multiple oversized intake and exhaust ports, creating a dynamic airflow that channels fresh air in and pushes hot air out. For added peace of mind, the helmet is equipped with emergency release cheek pads, allowing first responders to safely remove the helmet in an emergency situation. The ICON Threshold™ is the definitive choice for the discerning rider seeking a premium, feature-rich modular helmet.

Competitive features

The Icon Threshold™ Modular Helmet offers a blend of versatility and protection for the modern rider. It competes in a crowded market against other modular options like the Icon Threshold™ Steady State, Cgm 560s Mad Pro, and Premier Helmets Legacy Gt, as well as full-face alternatives such as the Icon Ultraflite™. While detailed specifications for comparison are limited, we can analyze the Threshold™ based on its own robust feature set.

Versatility is a key strength, with its modular design allowing riders to easily switch from a secure full-face helmet to an open-face setup. The helmet is equipped for all-weather visibility, featuring a Fog-Free ThresholdShield™ with an anti-fog coating and an integrated internal dark smoke Dropshield™ for sunny conditions. Comfort during long rides is prioritized with a moisture-wicking, removable liner for easy cleaning and a ventilation system that uses multiple oversized intake and exhaust ports for airflow. Consider alternatives if...

Riders who prioritize a fixed, full-face design for maximum structural integrity might prefer a dedicated full-face helmet like the Icon Ultraflite™ Nuestra Señora Mips® Full Face Helmet.

Verdict

The Icon Threshold™ Modular Helmet is a strong contender for riders seeking a feature-rich, adaptable helmet. Its combination of a composite fiberglass shell, advanced ventilation, and integrated sun visor provides excellent value. The modular functionality is its standout feature, offering convenience without significantly compromising on safety, as evidenced by its DOT certification and emergency release cheek pads.
