The Scott Element Pro Mips® is a backcountry ski helmet for powder missions and steep lines, combining the Mips® safety system with a RECCO® reflector that helps make you searchable by professional rescuers. An in-mold construction means this EN12492-certified backcountry helmet is lightweight to carry when skinning up. A FIDLOCK® magnetic buckle fastens one-handed with gloves on, while adjustable ventilation sliders, Anti-Fog Ventilation, and 360° Pure Sound Technology let you stay distraction-free, comfortable, and focused on the descent.

Technology:

RECCO® Technology:
- The integration of RECCO® adds an extra layer of safety and if you get into trouble on the mountain, it makes you searchable to rescue professionals.

MIPS® Safety System:
- The brain is typically more sensitive to rotational motion than linear motion because it has shear properties similar to water or gel. When different parts of the brain move relative to each other because of rotational motion, the tissues can stretch, which can cause concussions or other brain injuries.

Rotational motion is a common cause of concussions and more severe brain injury in oblique hits to the head. The Mips® safety system consists of a low friction layer mounted inside the helmet. In a crash, the low friction layer is designed to move slightly inside the helmet to help redirect forces away from the head. This is intended to help reduce the risk of brain injury.

A Safety System That Mimics The Brain:
- Unlike traditional helmets, which are mainly designed and tested for straight impacts, the Mips® safety system’s low-friction layer mimics the brain’s own system for protection against rotational motion.

Straight Vs Angled Impacts:
- Traditional helmets are designed for straight impacts, but most impacts are angled.
- The low friction layer is designed to reduce the rotational force of angled impacts.

360° Pure Sound:
- On the mountain, safety is paramount, and being able to hear what is happening around you can save your life. This is why we have invested in R&D to develop 360° Pure Sound technology, a specifically-shaped inner piece in our ear pads, surrounded by sound transparent fabric. It not only let you hear better, but also localize sound more accurately.
