I own a lot of files and tools for skis, but this one is the most practical as it helps to keep the skis sharp and the procedure takes only a few moments. I only use the side edge tool and not the base edge tool for files as I have heard the base should not be touched with files since they are quite agressive and tend only increase the angle making the skis less reactive. Repair of such fail can only be done on a grinding machine (said by a pro from Swix). Base edge should only be touched by diamonds or ceramic stone that only smooths the edge after filing the side edge, which is where the sharpening should actually take place.
