One, two, three, Trio. Find and remember the cards held by the other players and those in the centre of the table to form sets of three identical cards before the others do. Have a good time with the simple mode, challenge your rivals with the spicy mode or compete by forming teams. Whatever it is, whoever you are with, Trio promises hours of fun with just a few cards. Designed by Kaya Miyano and illustrated by Laura Michaud, Trio allows games for groups of 3 to 6 people, aged 7 and up, lasting around 15 minutes. The objective of the players is to form trios of cards before their opponents do. Sounds easy, right. Inside the Trio box there are 36 cards, divided into three decks with numbers from 1 to 12. Each player receives a certain number of cards (between 9 and 5, depending on the total number of participants) and the same number is left in the centre of the table. On each player´s turn, each player reveals cards one at a time, either from the other players´ hand or from the center of the table. If they reveal 2 cards with different numbers, the turn ends. Otherwise, they continue until they reveal 3 identical numbers. If they want a player´s card, they can only ask for the highest or lowest. When someone manages to reveal three identical cards, they keep them and try to get 3 trios to win the game (or get the special trio of sevens, which grants automatic victory). Simple and clever, Trio is also a very versatile title, as it has two game modes: simple and spicy. The spicy variant adds a point of complexity, as you have to get two connected trios. All cards have a drawing of another card with a number on their bottom, to which they are connected. The goal of everyone in this game mode is to get trios with these cards. Trio can also be enjoyed in teams of 2 players, if you have a group of 4 or 6 people. In this case, no cards are placed in the center of the table and all the cards are dealt out. There are lots of ways to play Trio. Trio is a fast and fun game that will test your memory and visual acuity. Each turn, new cards are revealed and you have to be alert to possible combinations.
