VOLA Basic Stone | Essential Ski & Snowboard Edge Maintenance Tool

Unlock the full potential of your skis and snowboards with the VOLA Basic Stone, an indispensable tool for any comprehensive maintenance routine. As the foundational first step in achieving world-class edge performance, this high-quality grinding stone is designed for skiers and snowboarders who demand precision, control, and longevity from their equipment. Whether you are a competitive racer, a dedicated weekend warrior, or a meticulous home technician, the VOLA Basic Stone provides the perfect start for a flawless edge tune, ensuring superior grip and smoother, more predictable turns on any snow condition.

The primary benefit of integrating this stone into your tuning process is the significant improvement in edge preparation. Before you even think about using a file or diamond stone, the VOLA Basic Stone expertly removes microscopic burrs and inconsistencies caused by regular use. More importantly, it is exceptionally effective at removing case hardening—the hardened steel that forms on your edges after hitting rocks or debris. Attempting to file a case-hardened edge directly will dull your expensive files instantly. By using the VOLA Basic Stone first, you create a clean, uniform, and workable surface, dramatically increasing the efficiency of your sharpening tools and extending their lifespan. This preparation ensures that every subsequent pass with a file or diamond stone is more effective, leading to a sharper, more durable edge that holds its tune longer.

Key Benefits:

* Optimizes Sharpening: Perfectly prepares ski and snowboard edges for filing and polishing by removing burrs and rock damage, making your other tools more effective.
* Extends Tool Life: Prevents premature dulling of expensive files by eliminating tough case hardening before you begin sharpening.
* Enhances On-Snow Performance: A properly deburred and prepared edge provides superior grip on hardpack and ice, offering greater confidence and control in every turn.
* Essential First Step: Considered the fundamental starting point by professional technicians for any high-quality edge tuning job.

Application Guide:

For optimal results, follow this professional technique. The VOLA Basic Stone is an Oxide-Alu stone, designed as a basic flat stone for initial edge treatment.

1. Base Edge Preparation: Begin with the base of your ski or snowboard. Lay the stone flat against the base so it makes full contact with the metal edge.
2. Smooth Passes: Pass the stone over the edge of the tile on the sole side, moving smoothly from tip to tail. Apply light, consistent pressure. Make several overlapping passes to ensure the entire edge is deburred and smooth.
3. Side Edge Preparation: Once the base edge is complete, pass it over the side edge in the same way. Hold the stone against the side edge and make several consistent, tip-to-tail passes to complete the initial preparation phase before moving on to sharpening with files.
