Dirac Dist El Cerrajero comic

The phone rings and devastating news hits Aurora from the other end: her father has just passed away. She will have to return to her hometown to try to put everything in order, but memories will assault her at every step she takes.

Grief comes with a delayed, silent and heavy effect. The moments of her childhood will be mixed with the disagreements she had with her father and the guilt she feels for having distanced herself until they became almost strangers. Aurora blames him for her mother abandoning them, for not being able to make her stay with them.

She needs to arrange the funeral as soon as possible so she can get back to her life, but her father was hiding a secret that he never told her about. His job was that of a locksmith, but it was a very special one. He was able to create keys that gave access to memories to relive them first hand.

Memories can be healing and they can also be poisonous. Aurora will have to confront the memories her father created and discover the secrets her family hides.

“The Locksmith” speaks of grief and also of the value of memories. An allegory to face the void left by someone when they are no longer there.
