FUTURBOX PROJECT Brutal 01 Comic

Dive into the abyss of the human soul with Brutal 01, the electrifying first volume from the visionary FUTURBOX PROJECT. This masterfully crafted comic, a standout in the Fan Zone for its unflinching narrative, introduces a character who will forever alter your perception of hero and villain. Prepare for a journey into a world where the line between justice and vengeance is not just blurred—it is shattered.

Experience the gripping paradox of Dan Hiroki. On the surface, he is a brilliant homicide detective, celebrated as the best in his class and revered as the son of the Superintendent General of the Police. He is a promising young man who seems destined for a meteoric career, on a fast track to the highest ranks of the police force. His future is bright, his record is spotless, and his colleagues see him as the ultimate embodiment of the law.

But beneath this immaculate facade lies a chilling secret. Dan Hiroki is a prolific and remorseless serial killer who has brutally killed more than a hundred people and has, until now, managed to escape the law with unnerving precision. This is his story. Brutal 01 presents the confessions of his crimes and plunges you directly into his intense cat-and-mouse game with the police—a deadly game where he is both the hunter and the hunted.

This series is part of a curated collection that explores the vast spectrum of human emotion, drawing inspiration from Japan´s profound literary legacy. It exists in a narrative universe that also celebrates the spirit of Kenji Miyazawa, whose work is a song of love for humanity and nature, capturing moments of profound connection: "When I walk through the darkest parts of the forest,/ my pants and elbows are filled with lips/ that have the shape of the crescent moon."

This cruel fiction brings us closer to the raw, visceral beginnings of a style reminiscent of a young Tanizaki´s literary career, years characterized by economic hardship and deep emotional blows. It embraces a storytelling tradition where complex themes are explored without reservation. In these stories, children, far from the usual idealization of childhood, star in stories about desire, pain, illness, or loss that also contain a great autobiographical load. Brutal 01 carries this torch, presenting a dark and mature narrative that is as intellectually stimulating as it is shocking.
