With 25 hours of battery life, 8GB of internal memory (expandable via microSD), and a rugged, water-resistant build, the eTrex 32x is your essential partner for every outdoor adventure

Etrex 32x is a tracker with which you can easily reach the destination you want. If you want to travel by bicycle, boat or simply cover a hiking route this model is ideal. One of the great benefits you will get using this sports equipment is durability.

This team has a 2.2 ´´screen with 65 thousand colors that can be observed comfortably in the sunlight. As for remote tracking, it allows connection with GPS and GLONASS satellites. In addition, it is compatible with the Birds Eye satellite through additional subscription. Team autonomy reaches 25 hours . The memory reaches 8 GB.

Pre-installed, the team has stored information about roads and trails in Europe. As an additional accessory, memories can be purchased with routes from Spain. For proper operation, use AA batteries not included in the package.

Explore confidently with the reliable handheld GPS:
- 2.2” sunlight-readable colour display with 240 x 320 display pixels for improved readability
- Preloaded with TopoActive Europe maps with routable roads and trails for cycling and hiking
- Support for GPS and GLONASS satellite systems allows for tracking in more challenging environments than GPS alone
- 8 GB of internal memory for map downloads plus a microSD™ card slot
- eTrex 32x adds a 3-axis compass and barometric altimeter
- Battery life: up to 25 hours in GPS mode with 2 AA batteries

eTrex 22x and eTrex 32x offer the same ease-of-use, durability and affordability that the eTrex handheld GPS series is known for — along with preloaded TopoActive Europe maps. These devices are perfect for quad bikes, bicycles, boats or hiking.

See the way:
- eTrex 22x and 32x offer enhanced 2.2”, 65K colour, sunlight-readable displays. Durable and water resistant, these handhelds are built to withstand the elements.

Explore the terrain:
- The eTrex 22x and 32x handheld devices come preloaded with road-routable TopoActive Europe maps that feature streets and trails so you can take the journey off the grid. Now you can know your surroundings — such as waterways, natural features as well as buildings, international boundaries and more. You can also find thousands of points of interests, including shops, restaurants, universities, car parks and accommodations.

Keep your fix:
- The eTrex series uses both GPS and GLONASS satellite systems so the receiver has the ability to track in more challenging environments than GPS alone. eTrex 32x adds a 3-axis compass and barometric altimeter, making it easy for you to keep your bearings.

Add maps:
- With a microSD card slot and expanded 8 GB of internal memory, you can easily download additional maps for wherever the adventure takes you.

Satellite imagery:
- Both devices support BirdsEye Satellite Imagery (subscription required), so you can download and integrate satellite imagery with your maps.

Find fun:
- eTrex 22x and eTrex 32x support paperless geocaching. Upload GPX files straight to your device, and view key information such as location, terrain and hints from Geocaching.com.

Go anywhere:
- With an array of compatible mounts, eTrex is designed as an outdoor handheld GPS ideal for use on quad bikes or bicycles, in boats or on foot. Use the auto mount capability and City Navigator® NT maps for turn-by-turn driving directions, or use the rugged mount for your motorcycle or quad bike. Wherever you think you might take eTrex, it has the mapping and mounts to get you there.

What our customers are saying about Garmin eTrex 32X GPS

This handheld GPS is praised for its excellent accuracy and reliability, making it a perfect, durable tool for hiking and mountain biking. Its lightweight, compact design feels good in the hand. Features include a joystick for easy navigation, GPX route recording, and a micro SD card slot to add more detailed maps. While the initial setup can be long and the included base map is basic, it offers great performance, excellent GPS reception, and good battery life. It´s a highly recommended, efficient GPS for any outdoor adventure

Excellent piece of kit

Laurence

This was my second etrex, having ,had the 20e before. That unfortunately decided to jump out of the holder on the bike and bounce straight into the canal I was cycling alongside. I wasn't a happy bunny at that stage. Decided to take the opportunity to upgrade to the later model and to the 32e with the compass feature. The menu and other aspects of the user interface are intuitive and much as with the 20e. The compass works fine as well. After a calibration I checked with my silva compass and it was exactly the same reading so really happy about that (far better than the so called compass on the phone!). Overall I think the etrex series are an excellent piece of kit to have when out and about.

The GPS performs admirably in terms of measurement accuracy and ease of use. Its main drawback is the slow responsiveness of the map display when changing the zoom level.

Nice device, but too slow.

Yes, it's Garmin.

All good.

The purchase was perfect. The GPS is great too; it replaces an eTrex Legend that stopped connecting to the PC. The only downside is the waiting time, which I think is acceptable for an online order. I ordered it along with some shoes. Highly recommended site.

My Etrex 25 had broken down; the Etrex 32 was supposed to be its replacement. I've always been very pleased with the Etrex 25, and I assume the 32's features are also excellent. However, the screen turned out to be considerably smaller, which prompted me to return the device. Tradeinn handled everything perfectly, both the delivery and the return.

Very good product, an amazing device, good battery and great accuracy, with a micro SD card you add all the maps.

Reliable but needs improvement

2025/08/24

carlos

The quality is undeniable, but it's not up to date. Garmin should consider including color coding on the Tracks, differentiating between climbs, flats, and descents, as many other, and cheaper, GPS devices do. A single-color line seems 20th century; we're in the 21st.

Excellent walking companion

I bought the eTrex 32x as a replacement for my old, worn-out eTrex 30. It has the same features as the old one, with a few extras. It's also proving to be an excellent hiking companion, although I do use the OFM maps on an SD card.

This is my third eTrex in 20 years; the first two were the 30 and 30x. They are very good products for hiking. Extremely accurate for the GPS and other features. The setup for the first use is quite long, but it is for trouble-free use afterward; just turn it on and you're ready to go. Its light weight and compact shape make it a very practical tool. It's the perfect tool for hiking.

Quality+price is fantastic. It looks resistant, with more than enough utilities to find your way in the mountains and very good autonomy. It is true that you have to connect it to the computer to view maps and that other newer models may have a touch screen, but it seems to me that its simplicity favors its robustness and the quality of its operation. Once it connects with the satellites it is very precise. I am very happy with him.

GPS comes with all road maps and paths in memory, so huge database. Also works well for aerial navigation. The compass is very accurate and the display fields can be programmed according to your needs such as the name of the programmed destination point, ground speed, estimated time en route to programmed point, distance in a straight line or by traversing on the roads. The path that is traveled is clearly drawn on the map to be able to control after the trip. The dimensions of the names on the map can also be adapted (larger, or smaller size) and the number of details on the map can also be determined by the user. There are many data such as sunrise and sunset, calendar for sport fishermen, stopwatch, altimeter with registration of the altitude of the different points that are programmed; even a recorder that automatically calculates the surface of a terrain that we want to know if we make the traject around the terrain concerned. Also calculator, clock, stopwatch with circuit time measurement and counter of number of circuits done, etc .

Garmin gps review

2023/02/27

Monique

For several years, I have been using Garmin Etrex 20 which I am very satisfied with, reliability, practical and very easy to use. With GPS + GLONASS satellites, there is no problem locating in deep places, the forest or in cities. The only weak point of this range and, after long use, the material surrounding the control buttons ends up splitting. Much improved since the Etrex 10. I hope the Etrex 32x will no longer have this problem. I remain faithful to this brand which suits me perfectly.

Ideal GPS for all types of mountain activities that are moderately light and agile to handle (walking, mountaineering, mountain biking, etc). By going with batteries (and being able to replace them) you NEVER run out of GPS. I have been using Etrex since its inception and they have always worked for me. Very good price quality and now at trekkinn at a better good price. It is not a GPS for programmed training for athletes, but ideal for learning to navigate.

A great GPS hiking device to be used for when you expect to be in remote areas or as a backup. It is built to be robust and the interface is simple. This is my 2nd Etrex 32, as I unfortunately lost it in a climb. The great thing about it is it gives peace of mind when up in the Mountains or in a long hike. Eron Gomes

Is it useful to measure agricultural areas?

Answer of Alberto

NO, even if it is feasible in an indirect way, the degree of accuracy is insufficient. For the specific purpose, professional tools are used, any surveyor who carries out surveys has them, but they have costs that are not approachable for a private individual.

Angel

When we do not have a PC, and we need to send a track (.gpx) to the Garmin_eTrex32 from our Android (track selected in the Wikiloc APP), is it possible? "You can download Wikiloc routes in gpx format, import them to BaseCamp and from there to the eTrex32"

Answer of Adriana

To transfer routes from your mobile to your GPS you have to pair the GPS with your mobile. This model does not allow this. You cannot transfer routes directly without a cable. Basecamp is a program that is usually on a laptop or PC. So yes, you can.

Ideal buyer profiles

The Backcountry Adventurer

This individual regularly engages in multi-day hiking, backpacking, or bikepacking trips in remote areas where reliable navigation is critical. They prioritize durability and long-lasting power over advanced smart features, needing a device that can withstand unpredictable weather and challenging terrain without fail.

The Garmin Etrex 32x is an excellent fit, offering up to 25 hours of battery life in GPS mode and an IPX7 water-resistance rating. Its support for both GPS and GLONASS satellite systems, combined with a 3-axis compass and barometric altimeter, ensures accurate positioning. The Dedicated Geocacher

This user is an active member of the geocaching community, enjoying the challenge of finding hidden caches in both urban and wilderness settings. They require a device that supports paperless geocaching to easily download cache information and log finds directly in the field. A clear display and precise coordinates are essential for their hobby.

This device is designed for geocachers, offering paperless geocaching capabilities. The combination of GPS and GLONASS provides the accuracy needed to pinpoint cache locations, while the 2.2-inch sunlight-readable color display makes it easy to view coordinates and clues outdoors. With 8 GB of internal memory and an expandable memory slot, there's ample space to store thousands of geocaches.

The Off-Road Cyclist

This cyclist explores mountain bike trails and gravel roads, often venturing into areas with poor cell service. They need a rugged, mountable GPS unit that provides clear turn-by-turn navigation on pre-planned routes and can track their ride data. Durability and the ability to load custom trail maps are more important than a large, feature-rich touchscreen.

With its robust, IPX7-rated construction, the Etrex 32x can handle the rigors of off-road cycling. It comes preloaded with maps and allows users to add more, making it ideal for navigating complex trail systems. The 25-hour battery life is sufficient for all-day epic rides, and its support for ANT+ allows for connection to compatible cycling sensors.

Competitive features

When choosing a handheld GPS, it's important to understand how different models stack up. This analysis will help clarify the key differences to guide your decision.

Where it excels

The Garmin eTrex 32x stands out with its inclusion of a 3-axis compass and a barometric altimeter, features not present in the eTrex 22x. These tools provide more accurate bearings and elevation data, which is crucial for serious hikers and navigators in challenging terrain. | Equipped with preloaded, routable TopoActive Europe maps, the eTrex 32x offers detailed mapping right out of the box for activities like hiking and cycling. It also features 8GB of internal memory, providing more space for maps and data compared to some alternatives.

Consider alternatives if...

If you prioritize a different form factor for hands-free operation, the wrist-mounted Garmin Foretrex 801 offers a distinct alternative to the handheld design of the eTrex series. | For users who may not require the advanced sensors of the eTrex 32x, the Garmin eTrex 22x provides a similar core experience with GPS and GLONASS support and a sunlight-readable color display, making it a capable option for more straightforward navigation. | If extending battery life through environmental power is a key concern for your adventures, the Garmin eTrex Solar, with its solar charging capability, presents a unique advantage not found in the standard eTrex 32x.

Verdict

The Garmin eTrex 32x is a robust and highly capable handheld GPS for outdoor users who need reliable navigation. Its combination of a 3-axis compass, barometric altimeter, and preloaded TopoActive Europe maps makes it a superior choice for those who venture into varied and demanding environments.
