The Garmin Instict 2 Solar Tactical is really good, a robust, beautiful watch with great sensors. I'm still learning how to use it. It offers a lot of features, a lot of metrics. For those who like to know their body's health, it's really good. Biological age based on fitness, body battery, energy, VO2, and much more. I expected a little more battery life because of the solar charging. During the day with all-day sun exposure (I work at the beach, so I'm exposed to the sun from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.), the battery holds up well. It doesn't increase (I thought it did), but it doesn't decrease either. At night, it consumes a lot of battery. I believe that for me, who trains 6 times a week for 1 hour a day, and uses almost all the functions enabled, the battery lasts 4 to 6 days.

I chose this product for the promise of long battery life, for which the monochrome display is a factor that does not detract, indeed under the sun it is seen much better than other types of displays. The screen suffers a bit in the dark especially with the backlight it can't be seen well from all angles, but it's not as serious a problem as some say on certain forums. It then depends on whether you wear it on the right or left wrist (the left looks worse but I use it there and it's not a problem). In my opinion, the most annoying defects of this product are above all the bezel on the top right which indicates the status of the selected function or the one you want to view. From a philosophical point of view it's nice but many times it hides some pieces of text so you have to keep scrolling up and down to read what's underneath. Honestly if they had made a "normal" display without a mandatory section I would have much preferred it. The second aspect is very subjective and it concerns the buttons: these are covered by a rubbery membrane and by pressing them you have the sensation of the microswitch underneath. It is not terrible but neither does it give the feeling of robustness of other watches even at a lower cost.Surely it must have been a choice to limit weight and price, but it is noticeable. That said, otherwise the device does what it promises and after a few days of use I find it quite comfortable. I can't comment on durability.
