At the beginning of the eighties, a new collection unexpectedly burst onto Spanish bookshelves: under the title Choose Your Own Adventure and distinguished by their unmistakable red color, those volumes promised their young readers to become the heroes of a story that they would develop through their decisions.

The original idea of author Edward Packard, driven by R.A. Montgomery and adopted by other writers, came to our country after achieving success in the United States, giving rise to a true phenomenon that would drive the fever for gamebooks and that today continues to sell a million copies each year.

In this volume, Sergio Colomino takes a trip to the past to the origins of Choose Your Own Adventure from the first titles until its disappearance almost two decades later, with special attention to the trajectory of the Spanish edition of Timun Mas and the 90 volumes that would see the light, in addition to its different versions Globo Azul, Superaventura or Globo Verde.

An extensive analysis and journey through the collection that is completed with the series that emerged after the success of the original such as Plan Your Escape or The Time Machine, those based on the franchises of Indiana Jones, Dungeons & Dragons or the superheroes of Marvel, and some outstanding contributions to the genre of gamebooks by publishers in our country.

"I have no doubt that both the most active collectors and those who have not opened one of these books for decades will enjoy this reading, complementing a small corner of their childhood and seeing a lot of those old memories reactivated." From the prologue by José Viruete.
