The story plunges you into a desperate race against time, where the fate of the universe hangs in the balance. Every 5000 years, a planetary conjunction opens the door to a great evil power capable of destroying all forms of life. To prevent this, the Mondoshawans are responsible for keeping in a safe place the four stones of the four elements (water, earth, fire, and wind) and a fifth element capable of combining the power of the other four in organic life. In the year 2263, a new planetary conjunction will occur and the powerful evil tries to destroy the four stones and the fifth element. The latter is reconstructed in a laboratory from a recovered hand: Leeloo, the perfect being, the fifth element. With the help of an ex-military taxi driver, Korben Dallas, and the representative of the Mondoshawans on Earth, she will try to stop the Great Evil from extinguishing all life.
