Startech USB 2.0 Active Extension -M/F cable 5m

StarTech.com 5m USB 2.0 Active Extension Cable - M/F

Extend the reach of your essential USB devices with the StarTech.com 5m USB 2.0 Active Extension Cable. This high-performance cable is the definitive solution for overcoming standard distance limitations, allowing you to position your USB peripherals exactly where you need them without sacrificing signal quality or performance. Ideal for home, office, and commercial environments, this active extension cable ensures a reliable and powerful connection over a significant distance.

The USB2AAEXT5M 5m Active USB 2.0 Extension Cable offers one USB-A male connector and one USB-A female connector, and provides an active extension of USB 2.0 devices of up to 5-meters (15-feet).

An all-in-one cable for overcoming distance restrictions as well as power source limitations, the active USB 2.0 extension cable incorporates bus-powered active circuitry to ensure performance beyond the length limits of standard USB cables.

Plus you can daisy chain 4 cables for a total USB extension of up to 20-meters.

If necessary, the cable can be powered from a wall outlet using the Universal AC power adapter that was provided with the cable - this will allow you to use USB bus-powered devices that may require extra power.

Uncompromised Performance Over Distance

Unlike passive extension cables that are prone to signal loss and performance degradation over 5 meters, this cable features built-in active repeater circuitry. This technology actively regenerates and boosts the USB signal, ensuring that your data transfers remain stable, error-free, and at the full USB 2.0 high-speed bandwidth of up to 480 Mbps. Connect your high-resolution webcams, printers, scanners, or external hard drives with the confidence that they will perform as if they were plugged directly into your computer.

Ultimate Flexibility and Scalability

This active extension cable provides the flexibility to create a more ergonomic and efficient workspace. Place noisy printers in another room, position a webcam for the perfect conference call angle, or connect to an interactive whiteboard across the classroom. For truly demanding long-range setups, you can daisy-chain up to four of these 5-meter cables to achieve a remarkable total extension of 20 meters (65 feet) without any loss in performance or connectivity.

Power for Demanding Peripherals

The intelligent design of this active cable allows it to be powered directly from the USB bus for most applications. However, for high-power devices like portable scanners or larger external storage drives that require more power than a standard USB port can provide over distance, the cable offers a solution. It is designed to accept external power via an AC adapter, ensuring that even the most power-hungry peripherals receive stable and sufficient energy to operate flawlessly. The universal USB-A male-to-female design provides wide compatibility with thousands of devices and host systems.
