The nominal spring strength indicates the expected value in m/s (meters per second) with 0.20g of ammunition and can be multiplied by a factor of 3.28 to arrive at the value in fps.

The stated nominal value is only a guideline; the effective firing power depends on the skills of the tuner and the sealing of the system. When installed correctly, the effective value usually deviates by less than 10% from the nominal value. Experience has shown that the effective value is higher than the nominal value in most cases, so if in doubt you should always go for the next weaker spring. In order to achieve the desired muzzle velocity as optimally as possible, different components and combinations (springs, piston head, cylinder head, etc.) often have to be tried out.
