For me, it was impossible to compensate, even descending inch by inch with the rope and sticking to 5-7m to descend to 8m. During the dive, the discomfort in one of my ears was constant; I never heard the decompression "plop," and only the fact that the bubbles coming out of the regulator's mouthpiece hit my ear seemed unbearable. I came to think my body wasn't designed for diving, until I tried them at a dive center. I was able to descend super fast, dive without any problem, and hear the "plop." I think it was the happiest day of my life. I bought them, and so did my partner, who after several perforated eardrums had given up on diving. His face and excitement when he tried them for the first time were the same as mine. I can't explain how they do it, but they work. The downside (which is non-existent if you assume that using them is the difference between being able to dive or not) is that you have to put them on slowly (before everyone else so as not to delay the team, if you are a woman hold your hair tight and adjust them well (once I put them on wrong, my entire earmuff started to fill with water and I had to go back up because my nightmare was repeating itself). But with a little patience you can dive without pain, discomfort and risks as much as you want.Several friends have bought it after trying it out with us and everyone is amazed.

I took the pro ear for trial dive in a pool first and it worked perfectly it kept my ears dry perfectly. The following morning I tried it out for a real dive. it was rather hard to put it under my hood (loose hood), will work fine with wetsuit with integrated hood. Anti fog function was ok. Visual area was smaller as what I would expect, silicones sides could be a bit more softer / flexible to better lock off water inlet in the mask, but at the end of the day it still kept my ears dry for the full 62min dive.

In fact, that's why I bought them, that is, for swimming in open waters and long distances (over 3km). What I can say is that they are the ideal solution for those who spend a lot of time in the water and want to avoid repeated ear infections (especially if we are talking about cold waters). For me, it was the only solution to these problems and I can say that they are very useful to me. You have to be careful to secure them with the neoprene hood. It can be any hoods or if you don't want water to enter next to the pressure compensation tubes, it's better to put two on, making sure to cut the neoprene around the ear caps. Because of the design, you encounter some resistance to swim. Also, the field of view is a bit reduced and the position on the face is slightly different than with a regular masks because of the ear caps (it comes slightly lower on the face). For maximum comfort, long beard should be avoided, they don't seal well and water gets in. In conclusion, it is different and requires a longer preparation time to enter the water, but with time you get used to it.

Remove/Replace Mask Underwater

Since the ear covers will go under your hood, of you need to remove your face mask underwater, will you have to remove your hood and take the entire unit (face mask and ear covers) off? Or does the face mask come apart from the rest of the unit so you can keep the hood and ear covers on and only remove/replace the face mask? And if you do have to remove the whole unit under water, is it possible to clear the ear covers after putting it back on to get the water out? Or would it just trap the water in once u get it back on?

The mask is a unit without being able to separate the ears from the glasses. If you want to take them off you will have to take off the hood first. Underwater it is impossible because water would get into your ears. On the surface it is possible but you have to practice a little so that it becomes watertight especially in your ears. The mask is wonderful... I recommend it 100%

Not sure if these guys have retail outlets, but they do offer hassle free returns if the mask doesn’t fit properly, albeit you’d have to pay return shipping. Also please note that this mask comes with an anti-fog film already applied to the inside of the lens if you are contemplating sticking your own vision corrective lenses to the on-site of the mask.
