To increase luggage safety, Osprey included padded front and side panels in the Farpoint 40L, protecting your belongings against worldwide airports’ renowned chaos. A series of internal and external compression straps keep your cargo stable and secure, while a variety of side handles allow you to carry the backpack from any angle when its harness isn’t an option.
On its inside, the Farpoint 40L contains all the usual Osprey features, but its padded sleeve for laptops and tablets and scratch-proof front pocket truly shines in guaranteeing that your most precious equipment is safe against any accident.

Its spacious zippered ventilated mesh panel allows you to carry the Fairpoint like a backpack but fill it like a suitcase.

The padded handles on the lid and sides of the backpack and its removable strap allow it to be easily carried and retrieved from the airport conveyor belt.

After reading various opinions, I am satisfied with this bag which corresponds to my criteria. I still have to test it..... both for stays abroad in cabin luggage and for hiking excursions... I will complete it with separation pockets to have a tidy bag. in addition, the delivery was fast, about 1.5 weeks and without worries.

i have a deuter futura 32 and i pack it to its limits, probably putting some 45l on it. this osprey cannot be "overpacked" as its design have a more "strict shape" (you can "expand" it on its depth if at all). having ,said that, the design is great, it has a very high construction quality (as good as deuter, i would say), lots of options for organization besides the main compartment. also, i received the pack in only 3 days in portugal. 1 day late, but still very fast. it was a 5-star experience.

The space is perfect for a one to eight day journey. The only design flaw is the laptop sleeve being placed in the front pocket. With that being said, I highly recommend this pack for any travelers!

Recently I have increased the chance to travel on LCCAir Asia and Jet Star). When I hooked the front two belts on the hook, I arrived at the LCC size and arrived. Depending on your preference, the inside pocket may not be divided too finely. It seems that you can use it as you like with a bag organizer. I was hesitating between the farpoint 40 and the farpoint 55 at the end I opted for the farpoint 40 to be carry on and I added an ultralight osprey, it was the perfect combo notes a trips Iceland 10 days, the backpack fits more than you imagine and you will not have problems with the airlines!
