Good morning, yes, depending on the characteristics of the rod you have purchased. For the specific case of the Starliner Model, this rod has a range to use sinkers between 100gr and 300gr. of weight to throw. It is not recommended to take it to a maximum of 300 gr, because there are other variables that can cause the rod to break because there are different types of casts (one more than other types, it forces the rod) and it can cause damage. It is advisable to use a maximum of 250 gr of plumb for this rod. I hope I have helped you with your query.
