Features of Dive rite Finger

Product description of Dive Rite Finger Spool

Description summary

Sometimes it´s the little things.

Every detail of the ergonomic Dive Rite Finger Spool has been designed with performance, comfort, and ease of use in mind.

Smooth and compact, the width and diameter of the spool have been optimized to fit perfectly in the hand.

Inner corners have been rounded allowing the spool to spin freely between the finger and thumb when deploying line.

Lightly scalloped edges provide a secure grip, and concave sides make it easy to wind the line without winding up your fingers.

A unique design feature prevents the line from spinning on the spool while winding but allows the end of the line to quickly be removed without untying knots.

Modified diamond cutouts accent the spool´s unique appearance while making it easy to clip the included marine grade bolt snap into a full spool.

A recessed flat area provides an ideal location for labeling or engraving initials.

The 60´ spool length is ideal for making jumps or gaps in a cave or shooting an SMB.

The Dive Rite Spool is crafted from high quality POM acetal plastic and white Dupont (RE4500).

12´´ (7.9 cm) Diameter X 1.34´´ (3.4 cm) Width.

White DuPont fiber braid line.

Includes 60´ (18.3 meters) of 24 braid line giving 220 lbs (100 kg) of breaking strength.

Made from injection molded POM acetal plastic.

Includes marine grade stainless steel double ended bolt snap.

It is the small details that make this reel an excellent product. The orange line is very visible, the rounded edges make the reel run very smoothly between the fingers without any discomfort. My favorite part is the diamond-shaped design, which makes it easy to hook with the carabiner.

It is a good reel, it runs very smooth between the fingers and the line has a lot of visibility. The included carabiner is made of INOX. It only has 20 m of line, which is a bit fair depending on what you use, but to dedicate it to a deco buoy is perfect

Ideal buyer profiles

General buyers seeking a reliable dive spool

This buyer is looking for a dependable and easy-to-use finger spool for various diving applications, such as deploying a surface marker buoy (SMB), or for short distance exploration in caves or wrecks. They prioritize durability, ease of use, and line visibility for safety and convenience underwater.

This Dive Rite spool is an excellent choice because it's constructed from durable POM acetal plastic and features a 18.3-meter, high-visibility orange DuPont fiber braid line with a breaking strength of 220 lbs. The included marine-grade stainless steel double-ended bolt snap ensures a secure connection, making it a reliable tool for safety-conscious divers.

Competitive features

When comparing the Dive Rite Finger Spool to the other listed products, it's important to note they serve entirely different purposes within the sport of diving. The Dive Rite Finger Spool is a specialized line management tool, essential for tasks like deploying a deco buoy or for navigation. In contrast, the Mares, Aquaneos, Tecnomar, and Spetton products are all diving masks, designed for underwater vision and comfort. They are not direct alternatives but rather distinct pieces of equipment a diver might use.

Where it excels

The Dive Rite Finger Spool excels in its thoughtful, ergonomic design. It features a lightweight and compact form factor that fits easily into a vest pocket, with rounded inner corners and scalloped edges for a secure, comfortable grip and smooth line deployment. It is built for durability and ease of use, constructed from strong, rigid plastic. The spool includes a highly visible line and a quality INOX twin-snap carabiner, making it a reliable and practical tool for recreational diving.

Consider alternatives if...

If your primary need is underwater vision, you should consider one of the alternative products, as they are diving masks designed specifically for that purpose. The Dive Rite Finger Spool does not provide any visual capability.

Verdict

The Dive Rite Finger Spool is a well-designed, durable, and compact tool for line management in recreational diving. Its ergonomic features and high-visibility line make it a great value. However, it cannot be compared directly to the listed diving masks, as they fulfill a completely different function. Your choice depends entirely on whether you need a line spool or a mask.
