This is my first smartwatch. The order was shipped and delivered really fast. When I opened the package, I was amazed by the fact that you can get a full-featured smartwatch with GPS and a dive computer in the form factor of a regular watch for a reasonable price. At the time of writing this review, I’m not sure if there is anything similar from Garmin’s competitors on the market. This is exactly what I had been looking for, for years. This summer, I tested the apnea diving functions: I dived in a lake with this device and can confirm the screen has good visibility underwater. I also enjoyed the safety notifications for target depth thresholds and surface rest time. I have never tried diving before, but I’m glad to have appropriate diving modes for the future. In addition, I use functions such as the pulse meter, sleep ,tracking, Body Battery, and fitness age extensively. Aside from diving, I used this watch for swimming, cycling, SUP boarding, gym workouts, yoga, and running — I received specialized reports for each activity mode. At the end of the day, I can recommend this smartwatch for anyone who lives an active lifestyle and enjoys various types of sports activities as a fitness companion. If you want a colorful touchscreen, then the Garmin Descent G2 is the device for you, but in my case, I was looking for something with good battery life (with the G1 and MIPS, it can last up to 21 days in smartwatch mode). I definitely recommend this product.

The watch was bought as a diving computer and it works perfectly. It shows all the information, I checked it with another computer and the values match. Apart from that, I use it for running and everything is ok. If someone wants this watch just to wear it and not dive, they should buy GARMIN Instinct 2, which looks the same, has no diving functions and is half the price. However, I sincerely recommend it to divers.

Great multisport watch. With its size of 44-45 mm, the case fits perfectly into the hand. Light composite material means that it does not burden the hand while running. Diving hasn't been tested yet, but its functions are no different from my scubapro a2. However, its battery can be charged yourself. Great livetrack functions allow you to track a selected group of contacts during activity, which is important to me in paragliding. There are great apps for installing on Garmin Connect IQ, including paragliding, various watch faces with weather or health functions, and a navigation app like Komoot. There is no point in paying almost twice as much for a diving computer with the function of a multisport watch with livetrack in order to also have Google maps on the watch or a color touch screen. Why? Komoot will take you to your destination without maps. The computer and watch meet my expectations in 95%. Minuses? Yes, they are. In my opinion, although the watch looks nice on the hand and is adjusted to my height of 175 cm, it could be slightly larger in diameter by 2 to 4 mm. And it is currently 44 mm. Part of the screen is also unnecessarily dead due to blackness. Pity. Fortunately, it will be slightly larger underwater.Anyway, I prefer this computer to my slightly larger scubapro a2. Worth the price. I recommend.

The Garmin Descent G1 is a great computer. Really useful on any kind of dives if you are fine with reading a bit smaller numbers since the screen is of course smaller than with most dive computers. The smartwatch functions are absolutely fine, all notifications are well readable and apps can be blacklisted as well. I don't miss the colour screen of my old watch and the 2-3 weeks battery life are amazing.

I bought this dive computer to have both a connected watch (reading phone notifications, music control...etc), a sports watch (with heart rate monitor for jogging, cardio...etc) and a spare dive computer. By buying a Quickfit bracelet in addition it is perfect to wear it every day. The battery lasts 15-20 days in smartwatch and sport mode 2-4 times a week by turning it off at night

None, except that the solar version has two straps, a normal one and a larger one to put on top of the neoprene. I have the normal version and it comes with the normal strap.

You also get long strap with solar version. Wich is needed if you would wear over 7+ mm neopren. I don't miss it.

Does it come with regular (124 mm) or diving (263 mm) strap? Or both?

Just the regular one. But regular can be fitted around 5 mm neoprene on my wrist. I've also noticed there are no aftermarket diving straps. Just expensive original ones. So you cam take this into consideration when deciding between this and solar version.

It is great watch for spear-fishing. It has spearfishing mode included where it measures your suface time and multiple alarms are included. The best benefit I see is in GPS marking positions.
