Not yet tried in open water in my buoy, but with a piece of kitchen roll dipped in a glass of water. The paper came out dry. Make sure to turn the egg firmly. I had not done well enough the first time and then the paper was wet. Just to be sure, I will first put my car key in a plastic bag in open water.
