Was a bit perturbed that the connection at the regulator end allowed the swaged internal tail to move in and out, and thought it might not be sealing on the internal o-ring but as soon as it was pressured everything sealed fine and the movement stopped.

Hi, there are two types of threads that are screwed in at the first stage: thread with M 1/2 male, therefore larger than normal and suitable for regulators such as the Mares Abyss or the old Apeks and standard thread with M 3/8 male which is larger small for all the latest generation first stages, the one you have selected in the photo is M 3/8 therefore smaller.

As a user, I can´t fully answer your question -- the variances would only be in slight material choices; only the manufacturer would be able to answer that but from a user point of view they would be almost the same (i.e. braided felxible hoses) There might be slight variance in the exterior braiding There might be variance in the interior lining; this might be of some importance if you would leave hoses for extended time in direct sun -- but that would also extend to all Flex hoses and if you would like to be on the safer side I would reccomend using rubber hoses. The only flex hose that has known special internal lining advantage I know of are from Mares; they are reinforced (but less flexible) so they have better tear resitance (against sharp objects; not needed for extra flexiblity) I hope this helps
