What our customers are saying about Orcatorch D520 LED torch

This compact, powerful dive flashlight offers excellent brightness and durability. Its screw-in ignition mechanism, while requiring two hands, enhances reliability by eliminating button failures. Ideal as a backup or main light for recreational and cave diving, it provides a focused beam and good autonomy. Buyers praise its quality, sturdy construction, and value for money, making it a highly recommended diving torch

Very good

Pati

It’s a really good price for this. You can recharge it as it comes with a charging cable and the light intensity is bright but not like the sun so you won’t blind any marine life or your dive buddies

excellent light as a backup for cave diving or as the main light for recreational diving

Very good backup light. Small and easy to connect to the D-ring on the shoulder. But have to use two hands to turn it on

One of the best value backup torches available.

One of the best value backup torches available. I have a few of these now. Great backup torch for night or tech dives, for a reasonable price. Tough and simple make them reliable. Two handed operation is the downside.

Very good flashlight with great power and autonomy. Ideal for night. Not having a button switch makes it very durable, as the buttons are the first thing that tends to break.

Good transport and packaging in Denmark. Very light, and gives a great light for the small size. It maintains high intensity for 2 hours and then still works for almost another hour in water temperature of 10 degrees Celsius. It has good light output but the flux is narrow as it is a small flashlight. Excellent for searching in burrows or as an auxiliary flashlight at night.

Compact and powerful

Asier

Compact and very powerful flashlight. It looks sturdy and well finished. For the price I think it's pretty good. The screw-in ignition mechanism may not be as convenient as a button or switch, but I personally like it because it will lead to fewer failures and problems in the long run. It comes with a charger and a "4500" mAh 18650 battery. I put it in quotes because I doubt it has that much capacity for what it weighs. However, I have not tried to measure its capacity and when using it it gives the promised time, so no complaints on that part.

Very good aspect of materials and finishes.

2022/01/03

Bruno

More than enough power, we need to test it in the water but at the moment it seems great. Good materials and finishes, it looks durable. The ignition system is simple and as it does not have a switch, it eliminates 1 point of failure.

1 battery is missing.

2021/10/16

Dave Arreglado

Product is good. But it lacks 1 battery when it arrived.

Very nice lamp

2021/09/18

Joakim Meier

Very good and sturdy. Kinda focused beam. Bright, cool-yellow. Hand size. I made a rubber headmount and hear this: If you beforehand screw it just before it turns on, a 10m dive is enough to turn it on from the preasure! very cool, saves battery and buddies dark-vision. It also has good handstrap.

Excellent product

Marcello Canziani

Great diving torch to use as a primary or secondary. Very compact and safe due to the absence of switches. Top light beam complete equipment. Also recommended as an alien light.

Very good

2020/08/04

Hussein

The light is very powerful and slim n light weight *BUT* then it's really annoying when you wanna activate or deactivate because it doesn't have a button or a lever to turn it on or off, also it doesn't have sign on it to guide you to which direction you should push to get it running, but other than that it is an amazing torch.

Really good

2020/08/03

Christos

Really good torch, a bit sceptical about the safety of turning it off in the water (not recommended by Orcatorch).

I love this little dive light, I already had one and ordered a second for my husband. It had a larger torch but it wasn't as strong under water as this orcatorch. The orcatorch is compact, light and has a strong beam. Correct price quality. Perfect dive torch!

I am really happy with this torch - I bought it based on a review in Diver magazine. It's perfect to go into a BCD pocket ready for use. Really bright and white. I would be happy to use this as a main lamp on a night dive here in Malta. It came with a rechargeable battery and a charging unit.

Ideal buyer profiles

General buyers seeking a reliable dive torch

This buyer is looking for a dependable, easy-to-use underwater torch for recreational diving or snorkeling. They prioritize safety, durability, and clear illumination to enhance their underwater experience without needing overly complex features.

The Orcatorch D520 meets these needs with its 1000-lumen output for superior underwater vision and a depth rating of 150 meters. Its construction from aircraft-grade aluminum with a seawater-corrosion-resistance finish ensures durability. The simple mechanically rotary switch and safety features like the low battery warning provide reliability and ease of use during dives.

Competitive features

When evaluating the Orcatorch D520 LED Torch against the other products listed, it's essential to recognize a fundamental difference in their function. The Orcatorch D520 is a high-performance diving light, designed to illuminate underwater environments. In contrast, the Xdeep, Beuchat, Seac, and Mares products are all diving masks, designed for vision and sealing out water. While all are crucial pieces of diving equipment, they serve entirely different purposes and are not direct alternatives to one another.

Where it excels

The Orcatorch D520 excels as a dedicated illumination tool, delivering a powerful 1000-lumen beam with a neutral 5000K color temperature for excellent color rendition underwater. Its design prioritizes reliability for diving, featuring a robust, waterproof build and a mechanical rotary switch to prevent accidental activation or failure under pressure. Portability is a key strength; its compact, palm-sized form makes it easy to carry in a BCD pocket, serving effectively as either a primary light for recreational dives or a reliable backup for more technical situations.

Consider alternatives if...

If your primary need is underwater vision and a watertight seal for your face, you should consider one of the alternative products, as they are diving masks designed specifically for that purpose.

Verdict

The Orcatorch D520 LED Torch is a specialized piece of equipment that is not functionally comparable to the diving masks listed. It is a compact, durable, and powerful light source suitable for various diving scenarios, including night and cave diving. The choice between this torch and the masks is not a matter of preference but of function; divers need both a mask for vision and a light for visibility in dark environments. The D520 is an excellent choice for its intended purpose as a reliable dive light.
