Where once a lush forest stood, now lies only sand. A vast desert stretches from the foothills of the Akaishi Mountains to the cliffs of Seapaw. Ancient, half-ruined cities are home to the last human communities struggling to survive by foraging for what little greenery remains. Between cities, intrepid desert travelers transport goods on the backs of their prized caterpillars. While their only goal is to make as much money as they can, at the same time, more or less deliberately, they are helping to bring life back to the desert by carrying small plants from the artificial greenhouses of the cities to the most remote corners of this ocean of sand. Designed by Ariel Di Costanzo and Javier Pelizzari and illustrated by Ernest Sala, Sand is the new title in the Kemushi saga, a game with a pick-up and deliver mechanic that can be enjoyed alone or in groups of up to 4 players, from 12 years old, in games lasting about 120 minutes. In Sand, players will take on the role of these intrepid desert travelers, traveling along the paths and shortcuts on the board and visiting different cities, passing through oasis, camps, and the great port. They will collect goods (plants, crafts, relics or the mysterious iwakura rocks) to take them to other places and thus earn gold for the transport service. They will cross the dunes on the backs of giant caterpillars, which they must take good care of so that they grow strong and can help them carry out tasks more efficiently. Along the way they will find companions with useful skills that will make their work easier. And throughout the game, they will be given missions that, if completed, will bring them considerable benefits at the end of the journey. But the inhabitants of the desert do not only live on gold. In Sand, you can also perform prayers to modify the results of a die, gain prestige (which will give you additional gold when making deliveries) or compose songs in cities, which will give you a bonus when you deliver goods there. The game system is based on the pick-up and deliver mechanic, which means pick up and deliver. Throughout the game, players will load goods at different points on the map and deliver them to others, after making a trip. The more deliveries are successfully completed, the more gold they will receive and the more chances they will have of winning the game. It seems easy, right. To carry out the different actions, each player will have four colored action tokens that match each of the four game dice. The action tokens represent the time they spend doing the actions. The game is played in a variety of game actions (and be careful, time is limited!). Depending on the color, the dice are associated with the different action tokens and are used to determine the power of the actions that can be performed.
