I run in different Altra shoes, mostly in Lone Peaks, for more than 5 years and I like them a lot. I appreciate their width, zero drop ,and balance between the cushion and control. Nevertheless, to deal with my Achilles tendonitis I was looking for a shoe with some heel to toe drop, not compromising the width, fit, and grip Lone Peaks provided. I failed, until my friend recommended me the Experience Wild 2 model. I was surprised how different shoe in comparison to LP it is. It fits on the foot much better, providing better control on the technical trails. Also small 4 mm drop ,pays off in climbs and flats, not stressing my injured heel that much. Unfortunately, Altra did not use the Vibram sole for this shoe and that is likely cause of its weaker grip on the wet terrain. Also the side mesh is of lower density so watter gets in quite easy. That big issue it is not, however. Overall it is great shoe and hopefully Altra will continue in its future improvements wisely.
