Techniques to use running poles

Running Poles improve propulsion and stability and allow you to spread out the total weight while running uphill or downhill. You can use trail running poles in three different ways.

Alternating
This technique is fully symmetrical where your left and right running poles need to be in sync with your stride. This allows you to push forward immediately and is best for high tempo striding.

Double running poles plant
In steeper terrain, the best technique is to use both running poles and take 3 steps. You can also slightly offset your pole strikes with this method to change in the camber and accommodate for rocks that are in the way.

Offset Running Poles
Sometimes runners don’t get the fast running experience using the alternating technique. In that case, you should go for the Offset pole plant method where you plant your pole every 3 strides. This is an ideal technique for ultra racing or endurance racing.

Benefits of using running poles
