This is a cracking little GPS that does the simple things really well. When you’re in a snowstorm on a Scottish or Alpine mountain and you need to know “where am I exactly?” forget faffing with apps and smart phones, get the Etrex out and a couple of clicks you can correlate your position with your map. Job done. Superb battery life and AA batteries means you can do multi day trips without thinking about charging blocks etc. The reverse tracking option is amazing, I’ve used it many times to return from a successful summit when the weather turned.

It does what it's supposed to do. The screen is a little bit small to use for a map, but that was expected. I choose this one because I wanted to have the possibility, but I always find myself getting my cellphone when I need a digital map. It´sa nice backup though and mainly bought for all the other options (which are available on the cheaper version too)
