Ich hatte schon mehre Vorgänger u.a. die H7. Im Vergleich hierzu ist die NEO3 schön Leicht, durch das schmälere Band auch irgendwie angenehmer zu tragen. Angenehm ist, dass das Batteriefach jetzt mit den Batterien quer am Hinterkopf trägt. Bei den früheren Modellen war das Batteriefach aufrecht/stehend angebracht. Teilweise hatte man damit das Gefühl, dass das Batteriefach am Hinterkopf etwas auf und ab schaukelt. Das Konzept mit den 2 LED (je eine für den Nahereich und eine für den Fernbereich) finde ich gelungen. Statt stufenlos wie bei der H7, kann man hier zwischen 3 Stufen wählen: In Stufe 1 brennt nur die Nahbereichs-LED. Das reicht, wenn man irgendwelche Tätigkeiten im Dunkeln verrichtet, etwas sucht oder nur spazieren geht. Stufe 2 hat mir bisher zum Laufen meist ausgereicht. Hier hat man eine gute Mischung aus Fernsicht (Bereich so 20m-50m) und dem direkten Umfeld, welches auch seitlich gut ausgeleuchtet wird. Stufe 3 ist noch mal ein wenig heller, Fernsicht ist etwas weiter. Aber der Unterschied ist nicht so riesig. Ich denke meist sollte zum Laufen auf befestigten Wegen die Stufe 2 ausreichen. Ich hatte zuerst noch überlegt, ob ich ein Modell mit Akku nehmen soll. Aber nüchtern betrachtet halten die Batterien doch recht lange, meist reichen mir 2-3 Sätze über die Wintermonate, und beim Discounter erhält man die AAA-Batterien ja auch sehr günstig. Okay für die Umwelt mag es besser sein, aber ein Akku muss ja auch erst mal produziert werden, wie da am Ende die Gesamtbilanz ausschaut ist auch fraglich.
