Mammut Smart HMS 2.0 snap hook

Elevate your climbing safety and performance with the MAMMUT Smart HMS 2.0, an essential snap hook designed for climbers who prioritize intelligent protection. As a cornerstone of your climbing equipment, this carabiner is meticulously engineered to address one of the most critical safety concerns in belaying: accidental cross-loading. Whether you´re sport climbing, trad climbing, or enjoying a day at the gym, the Smart HMS 2.0 provides unparalleled peace of mind, allowing you to focus on your ascent with confidence. Its thoughtful design and robust construction make it a top-tier choice for both novice and experienced climbers seeking the ultimate in reliability and ease of use.

The core of the Smart HMS 2.0 is its intelligent safety gate, a revolutionary mechanism that ensures the carabiner always remains in its optimal orientation on your harness. This innovative design effectively eliminates the risk of dangerous side-loading, where forces are applied across the weaker minor axis of the carabiner. The visual safety indicator provides an immediate and clear confirmation that the gate is securely locked, adding an extra layer of security to your system checks. Paired with a smooth and reliable screw lock, this carabiner is built from the ground up to prevent user error and enhance belay security. The large, pear-shaped (HMS) design provides ample space for smooth rope handling, making it ideal for use with various belay devices or for rigging a Munter hitch. Furthermore, the keylock nose prevents the carabiner from snagging on your rope, harness, or other gear, ensuring fluid clipping and unclipping every time.

HMS carabiner with a safety mechanism to prevent accidental side loads.

The new and improved version of our popular safety carabiner impresses with its enhanced construction, increased breaking strength, and reduced weight.

It still offers the same double safety and ease of use.

The screw lock can only be engaged when the gate is open.

This prevents accidental opening and unintentional twisting of the carabiner on the climbing harness´s safety loop, thus avoiding dangerous side loads.

Mammut recommends using the Smart HMS 2.0 carabiner with the Smart 2.0 belay device.
