What our customers are saying about Petzl Summit ice axe

This lightweight ice axe is praised for its excellent quality, versatility, and ergonomic design. Ideal for general mountaineering and hiking, its curved shaft and comfortable head provide a secure grip. The pick offers reliable traction and good penetration despite the axe´s light weight, reducing fatigue. It´s considered a great value and a top-performing, all-round tool. Some note the paint on the handle can wear off and plastic parts may lack durability

The best ice ax

Pablo

I've tested over 15 ice axes over 40 years, and I think this is the best general purpose mountaineering ice ax I've ever owned. It is very light 390 gr. against 850 gr. of a charlet goulotte. It has a twist in the magician, which makes it more technical, the handle nails well and the snow does not stick, a carabiner can be passed through the head and through the ferrule, it is comfortable to hold by the head, the pick nails very well and it is very safe, it can be used in traction perfectly and it is reliable. The head weighs little but impacts well due to the thickness of the beak of 3 mm. By not getting tired at the end it is much more effective because you can hit better and hit finer. It has more advantages, but these are the most visible.
