Product description Petzl Summit Ice Axe

Summit is a Petzl ice ax for apinists for vertical and frozen terrain. This tool is absolutely necessary if you are going to do alpine ascents due to its precision and efficiency.

The structure of this model has a high quality aluminum handle with a grip zone that offers adequate support during climbing. . As for its head, it includes a 3 millimeter steel blade, robust and serrated, for adequate anchoring in hard snow.

If you want to carve steps efficiently, this ice ax for mountaineers has a sturdy blade. Its dimension is 60 centimeters. The average weight of this tool is approximately 350 grams.
Designed for classic mountaineering, the SUMMIT ice axe offers an excellent balance between price and performance. It is lightweight and offers good anchoring performance of both the head and the spike; it is curved to offer necessary clearance for steep ice; it can be used in piolet-canne or piolet-rampe mode as well as in piolet-traction mode on short, steep sections.

- High strength and practical aspects:
- very durable steel adze offers a comfortable support surface, and the design of the edges allows stairs to be carved efficiently
- tilted adze directs the axe correctly into the snow (piolet-canne usage)
- head and spike equipped with holes for clipping a carabiner or attaching a sling
- high-quality aluminum shaft (7075 aluminum, used in aeronautics), with anodized finish for excellent protection
- handle is cut into the adze to create a better grip
- Ice axe compatible with LINKIN leash

The best ice ax

I've tested over 15 ice axes over 40 years, and I think this is the best general purpose mountaineering ice ax I've ever owned. It is very light 390 gr. against 850 gr. of a charlet goulotte. It has a twist in the magician, which makes it more technical, the handle nails well and the snow does not stick, a carabiner can be passed through the head and through the ferrule, it is comfortable to hold by the head, the pick nails very well and it is very safe, it can be used in traction perfectly and it is reliable. The head weighs little but impacts well due to the thickness of the beak of 3 mm. By not getting tired at the end it is much more effective because you can hit better and hit finer. It has more advantages, but these are the most visible.
