The grip to the touch is excellent, a little stiff, because I've had them on my feet since. I have had Quechua and Salomon x ultra 3 boots, the size I wear in Mexico is 27 CM, Salomon 9 US, and Salewa bought 42 EU. It is a rigid, hard and heavy boot. I've been walking for 3 trails of 16 km in mountains of 4 thousand meters, the grip is very good, on steep paths, the rocks are not felt when walking, they have not given me blisters, but they make me very tired. I can consider it as one of the best hiking boots out there. Comfort, durability, design.... My first walk with it was 32km without breaking and my feet were intact. Except for a tiny blister on the big toe, but nothing that would make it difficult to finish the walk. With more time of use I could even do about 100km in 24h switch. Camino de São Tiago de Compostela would be a piece of cake with these boots, as it goes way beyond that and could be used on the Pacific Creast Trail.

I also wear a 42.5, ordered the shoe in exactly that size, and it fits perfectly, or rather, is big enough. I recently did a 3000m hike lasting 7 hours and 18km, and the shoe is fantastic. They provide good support, very good grip, even on scree, and are light and comfortable to wear. No pressure points at all.

In my opinion, try to use a size larger than what you normally use, since on descents it can be uncomfortable for your nails, especially if you use it with thick socks or double socks because of the cold.

Hi there. I have wide feet relatively speaking and find these boots exceptionally comfortable. They're very sturdy and I wear them with thick hiking socks when walking without issues. However, I don't buy trainers in wide-fit and typically by standard products. Hope that helps!

Hello, The boot is unisex and the sizes are the same in Europe. In the United States, they have sizes for men and women, but in the EU, since they don´t have this distinction, it´s best to buy one size smaller in your case. There´s nothing better than trying them on and if you buy online, you can also exchange them. In terms of quality, they´re top-notch, resistant but slightly heavy for activities that require less effort. Without disregarding this boot, which I love, La Sportiva boots are even better than these.

Hello, So these are not shoes made to be cramped with automatic or semi-automatic type crampons which require a special overhang, they are nevertheless rigid enough to be used with strappy crampons on an occasional basis, these crampons do not require no overflow.

There is a similar question on the Salewa website, and this is what the manufacturer answered: "The Mountain Trainer Mid GORE-TEX® Men´s Shoes are compatible with universal crampons. If you are interested in boots compatible with semi-automatic crampons, we from Salewa offer those models: Rapace, Crow, Raven, Ortles Edge, Ortles Ascen, Condor Evo, Vultur Evo These boots are compatible with all purpose crampons but are not designed for use with semi automatic crampons Looking closely at the soles of the listed boots I can see that they are all different from the Salewa Mountain Trainer Mid Goretex, especially in the heel area I have no experience with crampons so I can´t give a definitive answer but I trust Salewa´s answer unfortunately I can´t test and try I think universal crampons are the answer to your question good luck! I chose these boots - 31, so that when loaded, the big toe does not reach the toe of the boot, and thick socks can be used. In winter, you can use it with a slight minus, provided that you move and keep warm from activity. The most correct thing is to find these boots in retail and try them on. That´s exactly what I did.
