VAUDE Puck 10L backpack

Very good for children!

2024/02/24

Camille

Very pretty bag and practical accessories. The rain cover is useful and the reinforcement at the base welcome for walks in the forest. Sufficient capacity to go hiking (picnic, snacks, water bottle) or for a short trip of max 1-2 nights. I recommend !

Timo

Vaude is a good brand and the bag seems to be in good quality. The buckles may be a little flimsy, but otherwise they would probably be difficult for a child to open

Ideal buyer profiles

The Eco-Conscious Family Adventurer

This buyer prioritizes outdoor activities with their family and seeks products that align with their environmental values. They look for gear that is not only functional and durable for family outings but also made sustainably.

The Vaude Puck-10l is an excellent choice due to its construction from recycled polyester with an environmentally friendly water-repellent finish. Its 10L capacity is suitable for carrying essentials on a family hike, and features like the removable seat mat and included rain cover add practical value for unpredictable weather and rest stops.

The Day-Hiker

This individual enjoys short, frequent hiking trips and needs a compact, reliable backpack to carry essentials like water, snacks, and a light jacket. They value organization, comfort, and weather protection in a lightweight package.

With a 10L capacity, this backpack is perfectly sized for day trips without being cumbersome. The water-repellent Eco Finish and included rain cover provide protection against showers, while the two outer mesh pockets and lid zip pocket allow for easy organization of small items. The Snuggle Up suspension system ensures a comfortable carry.

The Budget-Conscious Outdoor Parent

This parent is looking for affordable, yet durable gear for their children's first adventures into hiking and nature. They need a product that is easy for a child to use, can withstand some rough handling, and includes fun, engaging features without a premium price tag.

This backpack offers great value with its robust, recycled materials and thoughtful, child-friendly features like an integrated magnifying glass, easy-grip zips, and child-friendly buckles. It's an accessible option for introducing a young person to the outdoors with gear that feels like their own.

Competitive features

While all are backpacks, the Puck-10l is uniquely tailored for a particular user and set of activities, which sets it apart from the larger capacity, more generalized options in this comparison.

Where it excels

The Vaude Puck-10l is explicitly designed as a children's backpack for outdoor adventures, featuring a waterproof base, an included rain cover, and a removable seat mat—features not commonly found in the other, more general-purpose backpacks. It emphasizes eco-friendly manufacturing with recycled, PFC-free materials and the VAUDE Green Shape label, making it a strong choice for environmentally-conscious buyers. Child-friendly details like a magnifying glass and gear loops for collecting treasures make it exceptionally well-suited for encouraging exploration in young users.

Consider alternatives if...

The features are specifically tailored for children's use (e.g., magnifying glass, seat mat for forest kindergarten), which may not be practical or necessary for adult users or those seeking a tactical or standard hiking pack.

Verdict

The Vaude Puck-10l is not a direct competitor to the larger, more versatile backpacks in this lineup. It's a specialized, high-quality children's backpack designed to make outdoor activities fun, comfortable, and engaging for young adventurers. Its strengths lie in its child-centric features, durable construction with a waterproof base, and commitment to environmental standards. While other packs offer greater capacity, the Puck-10l excels in its intended niche.
