3M Scotch Soft Transition Tape

Achieve Flawless Paint Transitions on Your Boat with 3M Scotch Soft Transition Tape

Elevate your marine maintenance and restoration projects with 3M Scotch Soft Transition Tape, the definitive solution for creating professional, seamless paint finishes. Say goodbye to the frustrating and time-consuming process of sanding and buffing out hard paint lines. Whether you are performing a spot repair on the hull, blending new gelcoat, or undertaking a complete refinishing project on your vessel, this tape is engineered to deliver an impeccably smooth result with minimal effort.

3M Smooth Transition Tape is the perfect solution for virtually eliminating sharp paint lines wherever you transition paint, primer or other coatings.

The product design confines the base adhesive layer to the center of the tape, allowing the paint or coating to become a smooth transition line.

Drastically Reduce Rework and Finishing Time

The biggest challenge in any marine paint job is blending the new coating into the existing finish. Traditional masking tapes leave a distinct, sharp edge that requires extensive wet sanding and compounding to smooth out—a labor-intensive process that risks damaging the surrounding area. The 3M Soft Transition Tape’s innovative design creates a soft, feathered edge as you spray. This "invisible" transition significantly reduces, and in many cases completely eliminates, the need for aggressive post-paint sanding and buffing. This translates directly into hours of saved labor, faster project completion, and a reduction in consumable materials.

Superior Finish for Every Application

Achieve a factory-quality finish on your boat, yacht, or watercraft. This tape is indispensable for a wide range of applications, including blending primers, sealers, base coats, and clear coats on various marine surfaces like fiberglass and composites. It is perfect for use around door jambs, body lines, bumper covers, and any area where a panel cannot be fully repainted edge-to-edge. The result is a repair that is virtually undetectable, preserving the aesthetic and value of your marine investment.
