HART Tenya Jig Head: Master the Art of Japanese Bottom Fishing

Unlock a new dimension of angling success with the HART Tenya Jig Head, a specialized lure from our Jigheads collection designed to revolutionize your approach to bottom fishing. This exceptional lure is not just a piece of tackle; it is a gateway to a centuries-old fishing technique practised with great success in Japan. The Tenya philosophy is brilliantly simple yet incredibly effective: it is based on the art of handling natural bait, such as a prawn or small squid, and presenting it with the dynamic, lifelike action of an artificial bait. This fusion of natural scent and alluring movement creates an offering that discerning predators find impossible to ignore.

The HART Tenya Jig Head is meticulously engineered for this precise application. Its main features are purpose-built to maximize your effectiveness on the water. The lure design is distinguished by its tapered, hydrodynamic shape. Thanks to this tapered shape, our Tenya is perfect for vertical fishing, making the most of the drifting of the boat. This profile allows the jig head to slice through the water column, reaching the desired depth quickly and efficiently. Once there, it maintains a stable, enticing position, fluttering and dancing with every subtle movement of your rod and the current.

To use it, the process is intuitive and deadly. First, mount your chosen natural bait (a whole prawn or a small squid works perfectly) securely on the main fixed hook. Then, take the secondary assist hook and secure it to the head of the bait. This dual-hook system ensures a flawless presentation, preventing the bait from spinning unnaturally while also significantly increasing your hook-up rate by catching fish that strike short or tentatively nibble at the head.

The technique itself is a graceful dance between angler and lure. Let the lure drop to the bottom. Once you feel it touch down, engage your reel and begin lifting it with long, smooth jerks of the rod. This action brings the bait up into the water column, catching the attention of any nearby fish. Then, the critical phase: allow the Tenya to drop down again, maintaining light contact with your line. It is during this slow, fluttering descent that the lure perfectly mimics a wounded or vulnerable creature, triggering an instinctual feeding response. Sea bream, dorados, white sea bream, haddock and a multitude of other prized bottom fish are the main prey for this irresistible presentation.
