I have had several predecessors, including the H7. In comparison, the NEO3 is nice and light, and the narrower band makes it somehow more comfortable to wear. It is nice that the battery compartment with the batteries now sits across the back of the head. In earlier models, the battery compartment was mounted upright/standing. Sometimes you had the feeling that the battery compartment at the back of the head was rocking up and down a bit. I think the concept with the 2 LEDs (one for the close range and one for the long range) is a good one. Instead of having a continuous setting like with the H7, you can choose between 3 levels here: In level 1, only the close range LED lights up. That is enough if you are doing any kind of activity in the dark, looking for something or just going for a walk. Level 2 has usually been enough for me for running so far. Here you have a good mix of long-distance vision (range around 20m-50m) and the immediate surroundings, which are also well lit from the sides. Level 3 is a little brighter, long-distance vision is a little further. But the difference is not that huge. I think level 2 should usually be enough for running on paved paths. At first I was still wondering whether I should get a model with a battery. But objectively speaking, the batteries do last quite a long time. 2-3 sets are usually enough for me over the winter months, and you can get AAA batteries very cheaply at discount stores. OK, it might be better for the environment, but a battery has to be produced first, so what the overall balance will look like is also questionable.
