Plastimo Tube Type Radar Reflector Light

Plastimo Tube Type Radar Reflector - Essential Safety for Powerboats

Enhance your vessel´s visibility and navigate with greater confidence with the Plastimo Tube Type Radar Reflector. A crucial component of your onboard safety equipment, this passive radar reflector is meticulously designed to significantly increase your boat´s radar signature, making it more easily detectable by other vessels, especially in conditions of poor visibility such as fog, heavy rain, or during night-time navigation. Ensuring that your boat appears as a clear and consistent target on the radar screens of nearby ships, from small leisure craft to large commercial vessels, is fundamental to collision avoidance and safe passage.

The Plastimo reflector is engineered for performance and practicality. Its clever shape is a standout feature, offering a streamlined, vertical profile that creates minimum windage. This aerodynamic design is particularly beneficial for powerboats, as it does not impede performance or create unwanted noise at speed. Furthermore, the smooth, tubular form factor is specifically designed to cause less chafe on rigging, sails, and other gear, protecting your valuable equipment from wear and tear. This thoughtful design ensures that safety does not come at the expense of performance or equipment longevity.

Sensors

This passive device is expertly engineered to interact with and strongly reflect X-band radar signals (9.410 MHz), the standard frequency used by the vast majority of marine radar systems on commercial and leisure vessels. By utilizing an array of internal corner-reflecting plates, it captures incoming radar waves and reflects them directly back towards the source. This process ensures your vessel presents a large, consistent echo on the radar sensors of other ships, dramatically improving their ability to detect your presence, track your course, and maintain a safe distance.

Main Features and Benefits
- Enhanced On-Water Visibility: Maximises your vessel´s radar cross-section, providing a distinct and reliable target for other boats´ radar systems to lock onto.
- Superior Aerodynamic Design: The unique tube shape generates minimal wind resistance and drag, preserving your boat´s handling and performance.
- Protects Your Equipment: The smooth exterior surface prevents chafing and damage to lines, sails, and other hardware, unlike traditionally shaped reflectors.
- Complementary Safety Device: Designed for use as a highly effective passive reflector. Please note, it serves as a vital complement to your safety suite and does not replace the function of an active radar reflector or an AIS transponder.
