Product description of Petzl Tandem Speed pulley

Description summary

The PETZL Tandem Speed pulley is engineered for professional rapid transit on Tyrolean traverses and zip lines. Featuring high-efficiency, sealed ball-bearing sheaves made from durable stainless steel, it provides exceptional gliding performance (95% efficiency) and minimal friction for superior speed. Its robust construction ensures longevity, especially on steel cables, making it ideal for intensive use in rope access, rescue, and adventure parks. The large attachment point accommodates up to three carabiners, simplifying rigging and enhancing safety with versatile setup options. When speed, durability, and secure rigging are paramount, the Tandem Speed delivers reliable performance

PETZL Tandem Speed Pulley (P21 SPE) | High-Speed Double Pulley for Rope & Cable

Engineered for rapid and efficient movement on Tyrolean traverses, the PETZL Tandem Speed is the definitive double pulley for professionals in rope access, technical rescue, and the adventure park industry. Specifically designed for lower-angle zip lines on either rope or steel cable, this pulley combines exceptional speed, durability, and user-friendly features to deliver unparalleled performance when it matters most.

Experience Unmatched Gliding Performance and Speed

At the heart of the Tandem Speed´s design are its high-efficiency sheaves, which are mounted on sealed ball bearings. This premium construction ensures an exceptionally smooth and consistent glide with minimal friction. The result is excellent efficiency (rated at 95%), allowing the pulley to maintain high speeds over long distances, making it ideal for rapid transit, evacuation scenarios, or creating thrilling zip line experiences. The sealed nature of the bearings also protects them from contaminants, reducing maintenance and ensuring reliable performance over the pulley´s lifespan.

Built for Intensive Use and Maximum Durability

The PETZL Tandem Speed is built to withstand the rigors of professional and frequent use. It features robust stainless steel sheaves that offer superior durability compared to aluminum alternatives. This exceptional wear resistance makes the Tandem Speed particularly well-suited for continuous operation on steel cables, where abrasion can quickly degrade softer materials. This focus on longevity makes it a cost-effective investment for any operation that relies on the repeated use of Tyrolean systems.

Versatile Rigging for Enhanced Safety and Efficiency

Designed with practicality and safety at its core, the pulley’s main attachment point is large enough to accept up to three carabiners. This critical feature significantly enhances its versatility in the field. It simplifies rigging by allowing for multiple connections, facilitates the easy setup of backup systems or lanyards, and enables the execution of more complex rescue maneuvers without clutter. Whether you are building redundant systems or need to connect additional equipment, the Tandem Speed provides the flexibility required for professional-grade rigging.

When speed, durability, and safety are non-negotiable, the PETZL Tandem Speed pulley is the trusted choice for setting up fast and reliable horizontal progression systems.

Great bit of kit

Lee

Not used it on a zipline yet as I only purchased it last week but it's clearly well made and strong. The parts all run very smoothly so I expect it to be an excellent addition to my via ferrata kit. Looking forward to getting out into the mountains and see just how good it is.

(so far) The only choice for French VF

2025/08/15

Mariusz Jankowski

So. this one is basically the GOAT. for any french VF is a must have. you can rent it but it is usually from 5 to 7 euro for one rent. so.. 10 VFs and you will have some way of not wasting money. but the feeling of having ,your own is I think better than zipping on a rent one. Thought I will buy something else but in the end, ended up with what was the obvious choice

The only thing that has me a little annoyed is that in Peltz they indicate that it is a pulley for rope, when all our lives we have used it on steel cable.

We bought this for our kids to use at our vacation cabin. Will be installing an 80 foot zipline for them. Product is exactly as advertised in original packaging. Cost was about half of what we found on Amazon. Took a few weeeks to arrive in California, but we were in no rush as zipline is a Spring project. Very happy with Trekkin and their service!!!!

Is it for steel cable use?

Answer of Pedro

Yes, you can also use it on steel cables (ziplines on Via Ferrata for example).

Answer of Alexandre

Hello, yes, you can use it on steel cable and also on rope.

Answer of Anders Bank

Yes it is. Works great on steel cables

Answer of Artemio

It is for steel cable and rope, the one that is only for rope, the sheaves are made of aluminum and would wear out quickly. These are stainless steel.
