Daiwa Ryoga 2018 Baitcasting Reel

The Ryoga has truly set the global benchmark for round-bodied baitcasting reels, offering innovative technology and an unbeatable mech. This 2018 version is a ground-breaking marriage of casting performance and toughness, with features that push it to the very top of the range in terms of big bait reels for pike. The model has already scooped up the Award for the Best Baitcasting reel at the European EFTTEX show. Complete with a MagSealed bearing at the base of the shaft for total protection, this reel is also a reference point in the world sea fishing. Our engineers have honed in on the DR (Detective Rotation) concept, and the body has been reworked for improved grip. This makes the reel more compact at the point of contact with the hand – these improved ergonomics mean more sensitivity and control while fishing. The Ryoga boasts a tough body and digitally tooled side plates in aluminium alloy. The duraluminium G1 spool is 1.3x stronger than standard aluminium – and twice as strong as magnesium. The level of precision engineering employed – to the order of the micron – makes the spool considerably lighter, boosting casting performance. The Magforce Z drag system lets the spool get to work faster, and for longer. The new Hyper Mesh Gear drive gear increases the contact surface of the teeth by 50% for increased smoothness and breathtaking speed on the retrieve.

MAGSEALED:
- MAGSEALED oil is a magnetic oil that uses aerospace technology to protect reel components and guarantee smooth rotation.
The new MAGSEALED bearings have been designed to last longer than ever. The balls are encapsulated in a completely waterproof bearing. The inner and outer rings are magnetised and joined by waterproof and stable MAGSEALED oil. The cage runs smoother and is protected from impurities.
- This means that the reel’s initial performance will be indefinitely preserved. The smoothness is beyond comparison to a waterproof industrial bearing: MAGSEALED oil removes the need for a joint, meaning you won’t detect any friction on the wind.
- These MAGSEALED bearings are placed either side of the drive gear in our flagship reels, so you can activate them with the slightest turn of the handle for optimum winding smoothness. The concept has been miniaturised to apply to the roller on some of our reels.

ATD:
- The ATD boasts discs which have been impregnated with a specialist grease to optimise energy yield. This exceptionally high-quality product gives more grinding power at the start and offers a more stable and progressive drag. The risk of breaking off on the fight is kept to a minimum as the ATD adjusts to every phase of the fight: working faster and more progressively on the first run but offering a firmer hold for cranking power in the middle phase. It’s this adaptive feature that gives it its Automatic name.

Super Metal Body:

- Aluminium is the most rigid reel component material. Daiwa’s engineers have specially treated the metal to form an optimal micro-layer of stainless aluminium.

Infinite Anti Reverse:
- The new Infinite Anti Reverse system is activated with 4 times less force than a classic system.
- Less than 2g is needed to engage the Real Stopper system which eliminates any handle movement, bringing sensitivity to the next level.

CRBB:
- High quality anticorrosion ball bearings with a lifespan 10 times greater than a standard bearing.

MagForce Z:
- Total casting control at long distance
- 2007: The second generation of Daiwa’s magnetic drag. The Magforce-Z intelligently controls the intensity of the magnetic fields throughout the cast to maximise casting distance.

Swept Handle:
- The swept design of this handle brings the knobs closer to the rod. The upshot: Less rocking when winding in and energy gain for a more powerful retrieve.
