My rack is wider and has 1" thick tubing. The brackets have multiple pre-drilled holes. The only modification I had to make was to use longer stainless steel machine bolts than supplied (due to the tubing thickness) -- which may not be necessary in your case. The base plate has been on my e-trike for a year and works great.
