Good morning, I have very road-oriented handlebars on my gravel bike and was looking for something comfortable. The top is 380 mm. I´d like it slightly wider. What do you recommend? I was thinking 420 mm. Is that too much or too little? This is the handlebar I was considering.

Hi. I´ve been using it for a while now and it´s transformed my bike into something completely different; now I ride relaxed and comfortably. Bikes come with racing handlebars, racing saddles, and comfort is often overlooked. What I learned before buying, watching videos from some bike fitters, is that for traditional drop handlebars, you should choose a handlebar 20 mm wider than your shoulder width, measured at the shoulder bone, not the end. For example, if you have 40 cm shoulders, choose 42 cm handlebars. And for wider, flared handlebars like this Ritchey, add another 20 mm because of the flare; the STI shifters are positioned at a more angled angle, and these 20 mm prevent pressure on a nerve that runs through the carpal tunnel. Someone with 40 cm shoulders would use a 44 cm wide beacon handlebar. I hope this helps.
