Yes, if your bike was equipped with a FC-TY301 you can easily fit a FC-TY501. Both mount a square-spindle bottom bracket, both are compatible with 6-7-8 speeds and both have a 50mm chain line. The only minimal difference is the Q factor, i.e. the width between the outside of the two cranksets which impacts the distance between the pedals. TY501 has a 5mm wider Q factor but it is not a really noticeable difference

This kit is the one I got for my hybrid. It is a standard square drive ( rhombus , as you say ) , you will need the typical extractor to remove the connecting rod / chainrings assembly . Take a plastic protector from the big chainring and I advise you to disassemble it before, there are 3 screws, you will save yourself problems.
