A change in shifters necessitated a longer grip area on the handlebars. The double-bend 'swallow' shape of these handlebars, like the too-short factory handlebars, did not shift the steering axis too far towards the seat. The sweep/bend is perfect for my tastes, and also duplicates the factory bend. The bend and rise of these handlebars should be the most common of configurations! I searched all major and minor retailers in the US, but the only ones available had miniscule rise. Eventually, I did an 'XLC' search, and found BikeInn. I am pleased with the finish and strength of these value-priced handlebars. The finish could be described as sandblasted, which is an aid in reducing glare. I am pleased with BikeInn's sensible Euro tastes, selection, and reasonable shipping costs. I recommend these handlebars for trekking/city/commuter bikes when a little rise and comfortable grip angle is desired with minimal shortening of cockpit length. The matte finish is a reasonable match for aged aluminum stems.
