The Starter among Lucky radars is a compact hand-held version that includes a wired sonar in addition to basic accessories.

The operation of sonar is based on the propagation of sound waves. The fish radar uses sonar to determine the contour, structure and depth of the bed. The sonar emits a sound wave and determines the distance to the object from the reflection time. Then the position, size and composition are determined using the return signal.

The main functions of the radar:

Fish finding and depth measurement:
- The current water depth can be read in the upper right corner of the display, after the device is switched on and the sonar is in the water. The depth gauge shows if the water depth is shallower than 0.7 meters or deeper than 45 meters.

Fish signal:
- When the radar detects a fish, it indicates with a fish-shaped icon on the display. It can detect both large and small fish. The column on the right side of the screen shows the position of the fish. The fish icon changes and refreshes every 5 seconds.

Seaweed signal:
- A seaweed indicator icon appears on the screen when the sonar detects aquatic vegetation. In the case of the simultaneous appearance of two icons, medium, and in the case of the simultaneous appearance of three seaweeds, the fish radar detected a large patch of aquatic plants.

Bed contour:
- If a piece of rock icon is displayed, there are small stones and fractures on the bottom. Two pieces of rock icon indicate significant paving and breaking. When three rock icons appear, there are large stones, fractures, and fallen trees on the water bottom.
