Available on the latest Suunto watches , ZoneSense works in conjunction with a heart rate strap , analyzing heart rate variability (HRV) in real time to deliver an accurate and dynamic reading of your exercise effort. It does this without prior calibration or external testing, automatically adjusting to factors such as accumulated fatigue, stress, weather, and even your menstrual cycle.

Thanks to its real-time detection system, ZoneSense identifies whether the body is working in an aerobic, anaerobic, or near VO2 max zone, helping you maintain optimal intensity to efficiently achieve your goals . The technology behind this innovation was developed by MoniCardi, a scientific spin-off from the University of Tampere, specializing in advanced cardiac behavior analysis.

In addition to its technical rigor, ZoneSense has been designed to be intuitive. With just a glance at the watch, athletes can see how their body is working, whether running, cycling, skiing, or swimming. To provide more context on its usefulness, we spoke with Joan Solanas, a certified physical trainer specializing in endurance sports, who has already tested ZoneSense with his athletes during training to prepare for their competitive challenges.

According to Solanas, one of the ZoneSense´s greatest strengths is that it doesn´t just display a heart rate number: "Heart rate alone may not accurately reflect exertion.
